Well Chief, I sometimes wish that I hadn't gone submarines and had chances to serve on nuke cruisers and carriers. They still wouldn't let me in CIC, though, because I smelled like a Snipe. Which I did.

This one won a Silver Medal, today, in Des Moines. It was AMPs rules based on each model's own merits and on a point scale.

Except for having to make a "GARCIA" stern decal, this one's done! I completed the railings, safey nets, antennas, and rigging. I'm also satisifed with how the water base turned out.

I recommend this kit to everyone interested in post WWII USN ships. It doesn't come with decals or PE, but I've easily made do with GMM PE and JAG decals.

I have one more kit on the shelf that I plan to make into the USS Brooke and I'll need another one to make a USS Glover class.

I'm waiting for the sun to come out, so I can take some sky background pics.

The sun came out...............!

I hope you'll like my USS Brooke DEG-1 conversion, too.

I'm modifying the Corsair Armada USS Garcia kit into the USS Brooke.

Using the alternative bridge pieces from the kit I have added other modifications around the pilot house top.

I have added a seciton of superstructure on the O1 deck aft of the MACK, altered the optional helo hangar from the kit, added additional decking on the O1 deck as well as a missile launcher and director radar and platform.

SWEET!!!!

Looking Good!!!!!!! Again.

Everyone, here, knows that such comments go right to my head and make it too, big for my own good.


I've continued the conversion by adding SLQ-32 platforms and details to the bridge area bulkhead. Looks like I have a little more putty and sanding, in this area. There's a coat of Mr. Surfacer 1200 primer on it, right now.

Carl i just noticed that the launcher that you use is the mk-13 and not the mk-22. Their difference is the lack of the latter of the outer ring giving it a capacity for just 16 SM-1 missiles. You can delete the outer ring on the launcher very easily.

Your build is great as usual.

I am really glad that you pointed this out, for me! I don't like the look of it the way it is, anyway.

I have already sanded the outer circle to be smaller to fit the deck area and even the tried to thin it down a little. It is a DRAGON/SKYWAVE extra sprue part. You probably recognize it.

I was mimicing the one the ISW 1/350 USS Brooke on their website catalogue. It is the best reference that I have, really.

Now, I can get rid of the outer circle and even thin the small circle base even further make the entire launcher not so tall. And just in time, too. I'll be attaching it permanently, soon.
