I'm almost finished scratchbuilding the catwalks - WHAT was I thinking?!? I thought it would be easier to just rebuild them rather than trying to cut and sand the bottom off the kit parts to accept the PE grating. They actually have turned out real nice, but it was mind numbing, repetitive work! I started by glueing the PE floor in place. Then glued a strip styrene outer wall. To that I glued all the outer ribs (hundreds of them!) to the strip. Then I glued the top rail in place. Every strip of styrene had to be measured, cut, glued and lightly sanded. I've started adding all the boxes, platforms, doors, etc to the catwalks themselves. As I told my wife, we ship builders are a crazy bunch! I'll try to snap a few pics tonight and post them.

Stunning work as usual Kelly. I guess if I hadn't missed three straight club meetings I might have seen some of your progress. I promise to try to make the next one if you bring the big stick.

Thanks guys, the encouragement sure helps me to stay on task! Last night I finished adding all the PE angle brackets under the catwalk sections. Probably won't have a chance to work on it again till this weekend.
Yeah Tim, it'd be great to see you at a meeting for a change! I guess I just missed you at HobbyTown last Saturday.

Looking very sharp there Kelly. I was wondering how you were going to tackle the Catwalks!
I've been trying to get on with mine, got the sponsors scratchbuilt etc etc but have run out of steam somewhat. With all my other projects on the go i will most probably sell the project off.
Anyway, keep posting the pics !

Great job Kelly, really very impressive.
I am afraid there is a problem in the Trumpeter catapult rails though (Both 1/350 and 1/700 apparently): The forward rails should end at the same distance from the bow. It's very noticeable but it's easy to fix.

Kelly,
I'm waiting for the people in the hangar bay to start moving aircraft!!! The realism is just unbelievable!
Red, I'm taking notes, but to keep up with this guy would be

impossible!!
Great work Kelly!!!

Thanks so much guys! The catwalks have all been painted and all the decals on are the deck now. I also added the small white rail that boarders the flight deck. Right now working on adding all the extra details to the catwalks. Worked on the fueling hoses last night, what a PITA!!
