1) Baltimore Class USS Chicago CA-136. You get the WWII missing heavy cruiser class and with Dragon's smart kit "stuff" you can also get the USS CG-11 Missile Cruiser Chicago, the US NAVY first ALL MISSILE cruiser.
My argument of this class vs a (still best looking US NAVY ship of WWII) USS Alaska, is the marketability and multiple possible re-releases.

2) Zara Class Italian Navy WWII Cruiser. Only cruiser class with the dubious distinction of being wiped out in a single night of combat, God bless those sailors' souls. There were differences, but at least three are "smart kit" territory (Fiume, Zara and Gorizia).

3) British Leander Class HMS Ajax Light Cruiser. She was at Mar del Plata, Taranto, Cape Matapan and everywhere else she should not have been for the Italian Regia Marina. HMS Achilles was also at Mar del Plata.

4) British Town Class HMS Belfast Light Cruiser. She's still afloat, hence reference is readily available. While the British Town Class was comparable to the Italian Condottieri Class of cruiser with several sub-classes (even though never as good looking :cool_1: ).

5) Enough with Brits. Condottieri Class Italian Regia Marina Garibaldi Light cruiser. Final evolution of the Condottieri Class, she sacrificed speed for armament and protection. Just like the USS Chicago she was also converted to Missile Cruiser post war and was the first and only surface unit designed to carry Polaris missiles operationally.

With all those Battle Cruisers, Battlewagons and Carriers on the slipways or the sea lanes, I think we need something smaller and not so expensive to realize and mostly purchase. I would buy ONE Italian BB, but THREE cruisers.

Thank you for giving us a chance to submit our wishes. Who knows, perhaps Dragon really listens to valid arguments like MARKETABILITY.

1) Any of the Big 5. (Nevada, Idaho, California etc.)

2) HMS Furious. Several kits could be made from one mold to portray her in different time frames

3) USS Texas. Shes still around to make research easier

4) USS Alaska CB-1

5) USS Midway as built

My 5 suggestions:

HMS Black Prince armoured cruiser WW1
HMS Dreadnought WW1 Battleship
HMS Queen Mary WW1 Battlecruiser
E-Class Submarine WW1
SMS Lutzow WW1

Yes I am a bit of a WW1 nut, but there is still a big niche for these kits. Three of the above (4 if you include the subs E26 and E55 that were on the bottom of the sea waiting for the German fleet to return) were at Jutland and with the 100th anniversary in under 6 years time it could be time for some tribute ships to make an appearance.

1) IJN Fuso/Yamashiro Class battleship (although Hasegawa might pop one out)
2) Virginia-class CGN
3) HMHS Britannic
4) Modern fast combat support ships
5) WWII oiler

I would very much like to have a kit, 1/200th or larger, of an Ability class minesweeper.

My suggestions are

1. US Coast Guard 255' OWASCO class cutter WWII(the most heaviest armed US ship of the War, 255 foot hull /four 5 inch guns, two quad forties, eight 20mm, hedgehogs, k guns, DC racks...)
2. USS GLACIER, Navy Ice breaker
3. Edsall class DE
4. A FLOATING DRYDOCK(with cranes) used at Pacific forward bases, big enough to handle a BB
5. Polar class Ice Breaker

Vietnam War USCG 82' Point Class cutter in 1/35

1.) USS Wasp CV7
2.) USS Ranger CV4
3.) Baltimore Class Heavy Cruiser
4.) Cleveland Class Light Cruiser
5.) Brooklyn Class Light Cruiser

The US Navy is very light in 1/350 cruisers, and the 2 carriers although the molds can be only used once, they are very unique.

One class of ships that has amazed me with a lack of votes is the Cleavland class CLs. There were a LOT of them made, if you want to model a WWII fast carrier group ( a doable project with the CVL release) they were in the thick of it.

Variants are WWII round bridge, WWII square bridge and the post war missile ships.

They have a funky hull, but Dragon is doing the CVL and the unblistered cruiser is easier.

I am sick of scratching EVERYTHING, as I get older resin just gets less appealing (big money for a pile of fixes).

I want a nice relaxing plastic build - I want to do the B"i"rmingham and Miami. (I cannot spell worth a hoot)

I have already voted, so this is merely a comment (hopefully useful) - I'm a hopeless WW2 (mainly RN) fan, so may be biased.

Being a bit more strategic, the 100th anniversary years of WW1 are coming up, and obviously this will bring some naval events (and ships) into focus - at least in some countries (I am dreading the number of "Titantics" due shortly).

A bit of thought by Dragon MIGHT mean that they could release ships roughly inline with events and capitalise on all the free publicity on the media and "education" events that will occur. Obviously Jutland is the "biggie", but one can think of smaller actions (Coronel/Falklands, Dogger Bank, etc....) or even single ships (Emden or Goeben) and even a WW1 U-Boat (with three sinking Armoured cruisers).

I KNOW Dragon can't (and won't) produce more than a handful of WW1 ships even if they find the prospect commercially appealing, but a bit of thought now might help maximise the use of research and moulds.

(Unfortunately I'm too old to benefit from the equivalent for the RN in WW2 !)

1: USS Brooklyn Class, specifically USS Phoenix, served well in WWII, then sold to Argentina and became the General Belgrano. Was sunk in the Falklands War.
2: USS Alaska Class, Only Battlecruisers ever actually made by the US, even though we chose to call them "Large Cruisers"
3: USS Oakland Class, Modified Atlanta Class with two waist turrets removed.
4: USS Tacoma Class Patrol Frigate, Not the Patrol Gunboat. Many of these were sold, or Lend-Leased to other countries after WWII. There may be some still in service. Some may have been involved in anti-submarine activity on the East Coast also. They were named after smaller cities or large towns so there may be a lot of interest there. Dozens were made.
5: LSMs or LSMRs, there were a lot of sailors who served on this plentiful ship. I have yet to see a 1/350 Plastic model of them. Just about every other landing craft has been made but this one. Research will not be hard. There is an LSM Organization online and, I believe, two restored LSMs on display in this country. One in New Orleans at the WWII museum, I think. They were the smallest Landing Craft capable of making their own way across the oceans. Many of them spent WWII transporting supplies around the fleets and to islands. Easier to unload than the big ships. Just drive up on the beach and drop the bow! There is a diorama idea right there!

To be honest I dont know why plastic kit manufacturers are "afraid" to aproach WWI theme ships. I think the markelt has evolved and is now "hungry" for almost any kind of WWI warship.

I'll add to Ingura's list of W.W.I Naval Vessels, a strangely neglected era of fine looking vessels.

1) S.M.S. 'Scharnhorst' - As she was at Coronel and the Falklands and not as built

2) S.M.S. 'Derfflinger' - As built WITHOUT that horrible tripod mast

That's all I want ...perleeease!

My votes and dream ships would be (in priority order):

1) Of course Rodney/Nelson...now it is a time for some good company finally to make this brutal ship.

2) Russian project 58 Varyag/Admiral Golovko...most beautiful rocket cruiser to my liking
Image

3) Russian Novorossiysk/Kyiv air-carrrying cruiser...time to go ahead of Trumpeter who will most likely make it one day (with Trumpeter quality :heh: ). They already have it in 1/700 and Kuznetsov in 1/350...probably their next step will be 1/350 for Kyiv
Image

4) Last but not the least SMS Wittelsbach class or at least SMS Schleiswin-Holstein if so many people are interested in it. However Wittelsbach beats Schleiswig to my liking  We need some gloomy German pre-dread of WWI anyway :heh:
