The captain driving that ship needs to be fired. Had you installed the Belknap pole, this would never happened.

Yep, it looks pretty ratty now (the bow PE). Kind of if you try to fix something over and over again and it's never as good as when you first completed it. I equate it to my kids covering my favorite drawings in finger paint and then going back to fix it

Second deck crane finished.
Working on the airwing. A-7's up front on the port bow with Corsair launching on the starboard Cat. Intruders, Vikings and Prowlers line the starboard side. Hawkeye and Sea Kings at the island. Tomcats, Greyhound and remainder of airwing along the stern. Tomcats will launch at the waist with single Skywarrior to the port/stern.

Total of aircraft topside:
10 F-14A's Tomcats
8 A-7's Corsair II's
7 A-6's Intruders
3 S-3 Vikings
3 EA-6 Prowlers
2 SH-3 Sea Kings
1 C-2 Greyhound
1 A-3 Skywarrior

Fit is rather poor on the A-7's with lots of seams to fill. Specifically the wing root box doesn't line up with the rudder very well. The underside of the front intake has a small notch (all of the aircraft coming off the sprue are like this), although it's pretty much invisible. Wings stay folded nicely. Landing gear are incredibly fiddly and getting the aircraft to "sit right" takes some time. They look great but require a lot of work.

The A-6's fit together pretty well and I haven't really had an issue with them. Gluing the folding wings in place can be a challenge, just like the Prowlers and Vikings. The cockpits are much better in that they are larger and can be easily worked with.

Hope this helps a bit.

Your having a little easier time with the A6's then. The Panel lines on the back never quite seem to match up, nor the tip of the nose.
I am thinking about a Nimitz build, might go for a more modern airwing. Although I don't like the clear plastic A/c, they do appear to match up better.

Airwing 8 is slowly coming together. I have five more Tomcats to build, and one Prowler. Still need to purchase 2 additional Vikings, 2 Prowlers, 2 Hawkeyes and 1 RF-8.

This is a semi-spot of how I want the deck to look. Waist Cats will feature VF-84 Tomcats, with the Black Aces on the stern.

Sorry for the blurry pic but it gives y'all an idea of what the deck layout will depict.

Oh, and I'm ordering my display case next week

Seems like the more reference material I find, the more I need to correct things. Nimitz wore the Shaded Numbers on the island during the 79-80 Mediterranean and Indian Ocean cruise. In addition, I've got the "Beware of Jet Blast" placard wrong. Meh, it's a quick fix but annoying.

Fixed some antennas with PE and replaced a few that were slightly bent.

Got the majority of the airwing built. Taking a break for a week or so for a business trip. Display case should be here when I get back along with the RF-8 and Black Dog deck tractors.

Fixed the island numbers and placard. Had to paint over the old numbers but you can hardly tell they were changed out
