Will you be counting the lines ?

richard i can't count that high .i started to build the breakwaters on the fore deck all the plans and drawings show one ahead of the anchor winchs.i then spotted 1 pic showing things were not like that.there are 2 of them.one is behind the 11"turret and the other is behind of the anchor winchs. i somehow think the winchs are a little farther ahead then most drawings and plans show.here's some pics and drawings showing this.if i had not spotted this it would have made a mess out of my decking trying to move it.this go's to show that someones interpertation of things in plans and drawings may not be right.i am not saying this to be nasty it is very hard to interpt things and get it 100%right.if it was not for the good people doing all the plans and drawings we would be in a fine pickle

A quick Google search seems to point to the breakwater being in front of the capstans on at least Graf Spee, but not on Scheer, so that's probably where the confusion comes from.

thanks timmy,i did some more looking around and found out that the breakwater was moved back when she had her bow lengthend,i think the capstians where moved a little ahead also. made a few fore deck fittings today bullards,hatchs,rub plates for the anchor chain.i used the chopper to cut the round stock,and used my leather punch to punch out the circles that sit on top of the round pieces.

Hi Russ Your Scheer is looking superb .I very much like the method used for replicating the bollards . At this rate of build you will have completed your Scheer before I get started on the next project.

Hello Guest with out encroaching on this superb build. One Tirpitz is enough to last me a life time but the best of luck to any one venturing to build such an iconic Battleship

well this time i went whole hog and bought a set of props for sheer,i know expenseive for a static model but they sure are pretty.they look big in the pics but they are spot on with the drawings.here's some pics,they are just rough fitted for now as the prop struts and rudder would more than likely get damaged with all the moving around with the hull right now.

Hi Russ, I have to appoligize for not coming in to your build sooner, but when reading it all last night the dates posted was when I had a lot going on with my cancer treatment, I probubly looked in but was not in a posting mood.

Things are looking good, but you are going to hate me by saying, the props look a little large, they seem to come a lot lower than the keel, but if you are happy with them leave well alone,

thank you ron,i like all feedback good or bad.i might not have noticed the props hanging down to much before i glued the struts ,good spoting .the struts will have to be trimed a bit.this pic shows the size a bit better .they do not look so overly big,plans show the props the same level as the flat part of the hull bottom. Richard they are degaussing cables it is angle styrene strips,on some drawings they show them this size,but i cannot find a pic of them.they where added on one of the rebuilds,1941 maybe?

no problem ron,if you or anyone see's somthing wonky let me know,i usually catch it but then it is harder to fix,good to hear from you jose,hows your build coming along? i am going to cast the directors for s.c there are not that many but i need some practice before i tackle the big guns,and i like the feel of cast parts they have a nice heft to then,here,s the masters for the directors,all the detail is not on them because some things have to much undercut,and i am not good at two piece moulds.

"whew", a big sigh of releave.the directors came out of the moulds perfectly.i did something differant this time i painted the masters with future acrilic floor polish ,once it was dry i then sprayed on mould release.one part of the director had a fairly big undercut but they came out of the mould with no problem.there was no sticking anywere. i do not have a vacum camber so when i am mixing i do it very slowly to try to not add to many air bubbles,this mould stuff takes a long time to set up so to help getting bubbles out i run my scrole saw at a slow speed ,it vibrates a bit,i set the mould on the saw this gets any air out from under any undercuts ,seems to work.i will try a casting later today once the moulds toughen up a bit more.

hello all, the director castings came out good,still lots to do on them but the nail biting part is done.there is always some material left over on a pour.i try to make things that might be usefull,flat pieces that can be used for deck fitting like hatchs,the resin is easy to cut into strips when it is just out of the mould or what ever it is poured into.i also have i piece of diamond plate so i tried a small piece to see if i could cast it thin enough,it worked so the next time i cast i will do a larger piece.i used the rubber face plate of a old calculater to see what the back side of the numbers would come out like,i do not now what the heck i will use them for but they cast great.well i will slow down on the posts for awhile,as i am getting typing cramps
