Thanks NorthSea You have hit the "nail on the head" yes they are ineed layers of detail but the big question with any attempt to incorporate such levels is not just how you manage the detail , as important as that is but more to the point when to decide enough is enough ?

Ron my friend you flatter me to much . The great man had a chance to examine the hanger on Sunday and I saw not one tinge of a tear so its plod on and do your best. To impress the great man sufficent to warrent a tear requires a model of extraordinary qualities

Hi Bruce good to hear from you and thank you . The one advantage you have is no matter what you do with the hanger on CGN-9 no one can offer any advice as to how it could be improved. It's your call

Hi Cliffy your comment are much appreciated . Perhaps as modern warships shed much of their "exposed" fittings then perhaps the model maker looks to other part of the ships such as the hanger that can offer some "sope" for modelling.

Song praise is praise indeed . I even took a picture with some of the fittings resting on the floor of the hanger all I need to create a diorama was pots of paint and figures in hard hats

Song I look at your latest model and think of the many skills I have yet to learn

Did somebody already tell you you're barking mad? If not, I'm telling you: You're barking mad!!!
Couldn't look any more realistic apart from some people and dirt inside. A brilliant airbrush job as well, no sign of any imperfections nor uneven surfaces, and those pics are really taken up close!
My attempt at the Udaloy hangar looks like a 3-year old child's attempt at drawing a house with a backyard now, thanks!
I guess the ship won't do justice to the hangar
PS: my Visby has taken shape very rapidly, minor stuff to be done.

Neptune, I hope Dave will forgive me for off-topic question, but as you mentioned it here - is any chance to see photos of your Visby - may be there is a thread on forum already? I presume it is big scale RC thing and would be interested to see the model as well as from where you got the plans
Cheers,
