Just fantastic. This is like a master class demo.
So, how are you applying the glue?

I'd love to see a video of him applying the glue to that PE. Personally, I'm almost convinced that he uses magic to attach his PE! Some of the cleanest PE work I've ever seen. I just finished Revell's 1/144 Fletcher and even in that scale my PE work wasn't nearly as clean as this. If I could put my PE on that cleanly I'm not sure I'd ever paint a kit, I'd want to show off that clean PE. I thank goodness every build for the sins paint and dull coat hides.

Hi Dan! I use Gator Glue and both thick and thin CA, applied sparingly with a toothpick...applied to the part usually, versus applying the glue to the attachment point. Hope that helps -Tim

This is witchcraft! I don't believe PE can be done this cleanly and perfectly without resort to the dark arts! Seriously, I am bowled over by your work. You have truly done justice to what I consider a beautiful ship.

For some reason I am not a fan of the Japanese battleships,
( I think that the old spotting tops before the advent of radar are more aesthetically pleasing to my eye.)
That does not stop me appreciating the craftsmanship that has gone into this work of art.
Like Robert's post, it looks like a magician at work.

So I'm looking around the internet to find pictures of Nagato for my 1:700 build. I figure I'd do a OOB build with some GMM PE extras (GMM 1:700 IJN battleship sheet), you know don't get bogged down with all the intricate details, just the stuff that really shows, like railings, ladders, and maybe a radar antenna.
AND THEN...
I come across this thread with all these pictures of this totally amazing build

Now I'm thinking about all the cool stuff I could do to make my model just a little better.
So now the printer is busy printing out most of these pictures to use as reference.
Thanks alot ComfortablyNumb. You sure complicate my life!
Timm
PS Tim, you certainly set the bar alot higher with your PE skills! Congratulations!

Hi Tim,
i have the nagato set with the Lion Roar photoetch as well. But while working on the models, i realized that for the Lion Roar parts, the instruction is not well written and many parts that need photoetch are not shown in the booklet. How do u solve the problems?
many thanks

I would suggest that your first step is to bring your questions here. Somebody may well have an answer. For another, I'd book mark this thread, it could be highly instructive as to what goes where. Also, I'd go to LionRoar's web site and look at any pictures they have of their stuff for Nagato being built up. I agree, their instructions often flat out suck!

I have just come across this build with the PE and couldnt resist having to comment on the mistakes! Only joking, now that I have your attention, I have read all previous comments and being an avid user of the Brass myself I was just awestruck by your attention to detail and the quality of the build, simply inspiring to all who use PE parts!!

I'm glad you pulled this out of the pile of dust that was on page 6.
I will be starting a commission soon that deals with this kind if non painted Brass detail
on 3, 1/200 IJN Mikasa(s), and it was this build that inspired it, thanks.
