Mitch, I think those are white metal blast bags that came with the replacement turret, so he didn't "make" them, per se. There are a few threads in the Tips & Tactics section on how to make blast bags - go take a look at those

Hmmm...Nektarios, Sparrow - we seem to be in the same boat- im an anesthesiologist- and the spinal needles i have i have managed to use in an LST i built a few years ago- and used the finer Gauge ones for antennae for my 1/700 scale ships...

A internal medicine specialist knows everything but can do nothing.
A surgeon can do everything but knows nothing.
A coroner knows everything and can do everything but he arrives too late.

Now some more JFK stuff.
I m building it slowly because i m enjoying it very much. It is the biggest conversion i have ever attempted. All my carriers have a certain amount of scrarchbuilt parts and stuff but this time i had to do more research and "surgery" on JFK.

The main differences are the fore sponson and the areas of both the aft sponsons where JFK and America have the most important structural differences.







Of course there are other areas that need to be altered too in order to make a correct JFK but since the changes required are less extensive i will deal with those later.

This ronald reagan.

I live in holland and i cant see much ships like those destroyers.
I dont even see a lot of stuff here.
Only the 1.540 saratoga for sale and the ronald reagan is now ghone to..
The only things they sell here is rc cars diecast cars and planes.. :S
Anybody knows an good site to order some ships 1/700?

Here are some photos of the conventionally powered aircraft carriers (always postwar) i have finished so far.


CV-41 U.S.S. Midway.


CV-62 U.S.S. Independence.


CV-63 U.S.S. Kitty Hawk.


CV-64 U.S.S. Constellation.

I consider these carriers "finished" because they have everything including PE, GMM decals and Starfighter decals for the aircraft. I don t think i can improve them anymore unless i use new kits. Exceptions are CV-41 and CV-62 which aren t among the 15 CVs for my fleet so i didn t add any PE nets to them. Any way i don t feel i want to improve them any further. I have also built CV-66 but i will have to add PE nets to it sometime.

So, sorry that I missed your question, the first time.

The blast bags came with the CLIPPER brass barrels. I didn't scratch build them.

Why do you think the superstructure is too tall???

I saw many pics of RFA Gold Rover and it looks o.k. to my eyes. It could be 1mm higher but don t let this thing worry you. If it looks right it is.

I usually paint them first and then place them on the finished model. This time, I am just putting them on, then will air brush the bulkeheads and paint the rings orange again, after that.

Are you sure that you don't have a crew of people helping you on all of the models that you have in progress?

Wow!

I'm slowly making progress on my modern USS Iowa. I worked on some of the forward superstructure and added more items to the fighting top and added railings to the midships missile deck.

Most subassemblies are not permanently attached, yet.
