Re: 1/350 RICHELIEU Dakar 1940-41
thank a lot you both !!and thank again Kometa for the tips
I have practically completed the rangefinders (there remain the optics )
that on funnel top

and those of the stacking on castle top
I love the castle in its original configuration.....there have not to say...it was magnificent
after 43 it was something else ...less beautiful but more efficient

see you soon for the next step
cheers
Nicolas

HI Greg
many thank greg ,I do not know if my work is phenomenal but it is very time-consuming
I am currently working on the hangar present on the diorama .I do not know if I can put this step (paint ,weathering) here because
we move away of warships ????
cheers

Nicolas, I too prefer the new colour of the seascape.
Your work is as brilliant as ever.
I might have missed one thing. Did you really construct two bridges - one for 1940-41 and one for 1943???

Hello gentlemen
ZS180
I made a version after 1943 and no for 1943 (in 52 the richelieu was almost identical at the 1943 ) but I think you have already seen the thread viewtopic.php?f=59&t=75145
I hope not to importune with this phase of progress of my diorama. the hangar painting and his weathering
to begin the hangar is made of a girder structure, they are visible on the sides , they are painted in a reddish brown
is to avoid painting with a brush, I applied a red-brown on all metal parts

Then the beams are masked with of aid masking tape, cut into 0.7mm strips

as can be seen on the last picture, the roof after a layer of gray beige started receiving random masks simulating the Everit sheets (in asbestos).
the roof with all the masks for the second "layer

second layer with a base color cleared up

and re-masking

applying a medium gray on all woodwork

masking

the sides of the hangar are painted in white ,and a tan layer is spent on the roof.
we unmasks all

the hangar weathering was done using washings and oil painting. yet it may seem very marked, but it'll improve with the application of a matte varnish

I still have to blacken the bottom of roof with a airbrush, because the small locomotives leaves traces of soot

and "in situ"

that's it for this phase
cheers

Great job on the building!
I don't feel it looks over-weathered at all. If anything, I think you could go even much further if you'd like, as these things could get quite nasty. But ship modellers are always affraid of overdoing weathering, no?
The seascape looks much better now indeed!
Cheers,
Marijn

This is showing signs of becoming one of the great diorama models - watching with interest.

Re: 1/350 RICHELIEU Dakar 1940-41
Very good work on that main building, Nick, but marijn is right, it could use even more weathering. The corrugated tin roof is definitely on the clean side, and overall a bit too uniform in color. Perhaps darkening it even further and adding a few lighter patches (or else re-masking the light patches there and spraying with a thin coat of grimy gray-brown)?
Just a small suggestion on my part; it would certainly make the roof stand out a bit more. You could always look on Google for images of tin roofs from various environs to see what effect local climates might have on them.

Hi guys
thank a lot for your comments ..they are really appreciated
Marjin and Sean
I agree with you for the weathering , but this hangar was relatively recent (1938) and the pictures that I have in my possession(that I can not sadly not share )shows the hangar relatively clean ..like on this pic

which is misleading, what you see the hangar really near ...and without all of the diorama
thank you again to follow this thread realy realy long

Re: 1/350 RICHELIEU Dakar 1940-41
HI gentlemen
the diorama is set aside for now, and I begin to anticipate small details that come arise almost at the assembly end .
for my version 1952 of Richelieu,I had done of resin models for all who were projectors, presents on the Richelieu.
I have them improved, a sort of 2.0 Version ,but designed so "old school" no 3D
to begin the 35 CM (scott) on which I add the shutter grid

the 60cm (percied )

and the 120 cm ,whose body has been hollowed out (as in reality) and the support of glass ,is represented in PE

and juste for the size give

I also make masters for the life rafts.
the material ,and the basis

the same with the rope (stretched sprue )

the result after 3 hours of work (ready to be molded)

I received my first prints in resin for the 37 mm AA (thank you oncle Jack ) the amunitions box and 37 mm gun in a double mounting

it is very small

see you soon for the next step
cheers
