Update: details,details!

It's been slow going lately...but with all the major construction finished,I needed to start on the little details...ammo boxes,rafts,floater net baskets and such. All thats left now before final assembly is some ladders for various locations and supports for the gun tubs on the forward S/S.





Also I finally got the aircrft crane rigged useing UNI-Products Caenis thread and P/E pullyes.





And the SOC Seagull floatplane.

Hi all,

Small update: Funnel rigging

Finaly was able to get some time to work on the "NO boat"...the forward superstructure,funnels and searchlight platform were permanently installed. The rigging is UNI-Caenis thread doubled and attached with CA.

Hi Roy,

Their "eyebolts" that come on the GMM P/E set. I think they may be a standard feature of GMM p/e as I needed to get some extras from the old Massachusetts fret I have lying around.

I've been using L'Arsenal eye bolts on my scratchbuild HMS Medusa, they'er circular but i do like the look of the GMM ones.
Shame they dont do them as a stand alone item like L'Arsaenal do.

Did you determine the funnel stay locations with 100% accuracy? If so, you're a heck of a lot luckier than I am..........so far with my, "parrallel", project.
Nice work buddy! The siding on those deck lockers is really cool too. Is that Trumpeter or Dave Hill? Nice job attaching the vertical ladders too!!

I also have a set of the L'Arsenal eyebolts and I think I should've used them instead!...the GMM ones seem to stand out too far from the part surface...the L'Arsenal are smaller and I think would've look better!

Thanks for the nice words!..The funnel stays may not be 100% but their close!...I just eyeballed 'em . That locker is Trumpy!...the 20mm ready lockers were made from 0.80" square rod.

What is "UNI-Caenis" i usualy use stretched sprue but i'm always willing to try something new.

Hey Roy,

Caenis is a fine thread for tying fishing flies manufactured by UNI-Products...you can get it at J Stockard Fly Fishing...it's about 0.001" in diam and bonds very well with CA...I use the gel type!...HTH!

Final Update: Finishing the 'Nawlins!


I rigged the model before adding the deck railings, weapons and other details to avoid snapping things off with the thread,I just can't say enough about the Caenis thread!...rigging used to be the most dreaded part of a model for me because it seemed the thread would always stick to everything but what I wanted it to. Since useing the Uni-Products thread rigging is a pc of cake!..I attach it to one point with CA, wait about 30 seconds then attach the other end...done!!!!!!!




Finaly it came time to add the railings, weapons, catapult and aircraft crane and with that the model is finished!...The only thing left to do is build the display case!

is just perfect.
