Great work Carl, glad to see you're still at it! I've always liked the pre-OHP frigates, they have real character to them. High freeboard, low superstructure with lots of "clutter." Way cool!

Thanks for your chiming in! Where have you been? And what are you working on?

I've posted most progress pics over on "Postwar Navy". Not much progress, lately. Maybe just the addition of the small boats and torpedo launchers since fixing the missile launcher deck area.

This has been a fun conversion. I've got life raft cannisters, inclined ladders, railings, rigging and antennas yet to go.



I'll need to buy another USS Garcia kit to create the USS Glover FF-1098. The major modification being the fantail and stern door and extended superstructure on the amidships O1 level. I'm glad that the kit comes with options for the bridge and hangar sections.

In the meantime, I have started the new DRAGON USS Virginia CGN-38.

gotta get one of these in 1/350. nice NukeMM!

I definitely want to see this done!!! Might as well scratchbuild this thing again!

Here's another one for the collection. Although commissioned during WWII, I think this one counts as a Post War vessel for my intentions.

Hey, Nick!

Which are you speaking of? The Brooke? Glover? or Virginia?

I know that you've been interested in my proposed navy base dio. I've been playing around with painting some of the bulidings and I re-painted the piers. I used the previous Plastruct "agitated water" sheet for something else and only the remnants of that sheet are shown, here. I have another sheet of water on order. One large sheet (14 x 24 inches) will fill the inside perimeter. I already have a plexi glass case made for it that will rest inside of the groove that I have routered around it.

This is the RC helo drone (DASH) on my JAG USS McCloy DE-1038. Its from a Fujimi JMSDF ship (name escapes me). I bought the Fujimi kit just for the DASH and split the cost of the kit with another modeler who wanted the rest of the kit.

I don't plan to add a DASH to this one unless WEM comes out with one in 1/700 like the 1/350 one that they have. I'll just pretend its in the hangar.

Playing around with some DML tug boats and harbor pieces.

This one is approaching the finish line.

I�ve been considering one for my own spanish "one of each class" collection. Sadly I lack space at home now (3 children take a lot of room), but I don�t loose hope for the future.

Thanks for your chiming in! Where have you been? And what are you working on?

At the moment, I am working on a post-war civilian Liberty Ship. Not a big project but keeping me sufficiently occupied for the time being. No modern warships on the bench, although I am eager to get back to my Sumner and Oriskany conversions. But I promised myself I would stick to just one project at a time...

As to where I have been, well I've been a couple of places. Spent a month in Mexico earlier in the spring. But what's really been keeping me from the workbench lately is a 1:1 sailboat project.

Sumner is looking superb as well! You are an absolute model building machine, and yet the quality is fantastic, don't know how you manage to do both!

Time to add this one to the collection.

It's the Virginia. It's much cleaner to scratcbuild anyway, not much "clutter" around the ship to scratchbuild
