You're welcome Orb. A buddy of mine started it with me by showing me Google Earth and going to Dalian Dockyard where we could see the Varyag laid up in dock. So we decided to go see what else we could see, and I started at Murmansk, knowing that was the area the North Fleet docks. Slide the camera north, and at the time I didn't know what a Kirov was, so I mistook Peter for a Tanker, but we went over the area and looked around.

Nope its the Korean war CVA-9 (straight deck). I wanted to do a build the ISW kit but i m spending a lot of time doing some preliminary work (washing the kit sanding etc...) Its a very good kit and it is my first warship in the pre-1980s era. I ll just do some more work (i will drill some holes in the hangar deck openings) and then the construction will be suspended. I ll wait to see the decals that will be produced for the aircraft by Starfighter decals. I want the aircraft inside the hangar to have these decals so i cant really close the hangar until i put some aircraft inside (with the decals).

Looking good as always Nektarios! Looking forward to more progress, especially with all the plans you have for the hangar deck. How come you stopped CV-67?

Yes, Google Earth really is a neat little program. Just now that you mentioned it I was looking around the area again and just now did I find the Peter. I actually never paid attention earlier when I was just looking at the subs!

Thank you orb for your comments. JFK was stopped because i can t sleep very well due to work stress and also to due limited time available. A scratchbuilt ship requires lots of effort. Now i dont have enough patience to dedicate to this project. It will be restarted within this month i hope.

I haven't worked on my Iowa in a few days. I have changed the color(s) of the aft deck back to the original one shade.

I have added some incline ladders, lockers, and railings under and around the port and starboard Mk37 gun directors and between the Tomahawk launcher platforms.

Carl, that looks great. Very detailed, very clean - especially pictures 2 and 3. If I didn't know better I would mistake them for pictures of the real ship which has just gotten a new paint job.

Thanks Nektarios, here are a couple more pictures. I'm not quite satisfied with the water surface, it's not as realistic as I thought. I already tried silicone, this time it was plaster. Perhaps the next time I will give acrylic gel a shot until I figure out which method I think is best.

The Jag tomahawk launchers look so much better than the ones included in the kit.

I have seen their Typhoon and Oscar II kits.Their quality is excellent. I wish they ll release more Soviet/Russian subs in 1/700.

I have got their Oyashio, Kilo and Seawolf Kits. They are brilliant little kits and excellent value for money.

I had ordered the Akula together with a Typhoon but the online shop somehow ran out of models so I just received the Akula. I totally forgot about them having the Typhoon as a backlog so it was a pleasant surprise to receive it last week. Definitely very nice models. I will surely be getting more of them later on.

I wish they would release an Ohio class SSBN and SSGN. I d buy many of these kits.
