The book was too big to get it all in one scan.

I goofed and posted as a non-registered visitor again. >.<
So my reply will not be editable and will appear shortly showing a Japanese book cover about Yamato in answer to your last post. Sorry!

Okay, I'll post the pic here with better editing, and hope the Mod deletes the other copy if it shows up.
This is the book I got the fishnet blast bags picture from, so that's why I kind of thought it might be Yamato;
Image
It has a full-color pictorial section of a 1/100 scale Yamato model that looks like it was all pre-cast plastic with a 'mass-produced' look to it and very little if any actual model-maker's finishing touches to items like the gun tubs, although detailing appears quite good.
If you want to see some of the pics, I could scan and post them if that's not infringing.
The pics of the boat or motor launch areas and float planes are especially interesting, but the whole thing is equally detailed.

I've picked out and circled the word 'Yamato' in the blast bag pic.
But I don't read Japanese well enough to know what the rest says, so it doesn't necessarily mean the ship in the picture is Yamato. I just kind of thought it might be. The guns seem big enough, compared to the figures of men.
Image
A literal translation of the circled word would be 'Yamato' and would go about like this;
large/big--harmony/Japanese style/peace/soften/Japan--time/hour.

It looks like a close-up of a part of the larger photo above - I believe the battleship is Nagato and Yamato is visible to the right. The blast bag detail appears to be an enlargement of a part of the extreme left of the larger photo.

I dont think so, by the bridge visible just above the main guns, it must be an IJN Agano class cruiser. 100% is not IJN Yamato or IJN Nagato.
The first letters on the text says a light cruiser or heavy, the other is IJN Yamato but I guess it says something like that:
"IJN Yamato pictured from the bow of a light or heavy cruiser".

Okay, "mystery" solved. Blue arrow is IJN Takao or IJN Atago. Just look the top of the bridge and compared with a IJN Atago or IJN Takao bridge.

Thank you very much to everyone for your help in figuring out the 'mystery ship'.
It seems so obvious now that the ship in the background indeed has the distinctive profile of a Yamato-class ship, and that the gunhouse in the foreground has only two barrels, not three.
I just couldn't seem to recognize those details before, but they're so unmistakable now.
I very much appreciate all your help.

Agreed. ship in photo is Atago or Takao, 1943. Funny, I never notice that photo before. Great shot.

The caption says takao class looking towards Yamato class, without specifying which ship of each class is actually shown. The weave is actually a bag shaped net placed ever the blast bag, possible to draw in the lose folds of the bag and keep them from flapping or ripping during recoil against the embrasure or mentlet of the turret. It's not part of the bag. I've seen pre-war photos of takao class with the same bags. Pre-war photos of mogami's 6" turrets do not Show the same net over the blast bags. But notice the 6" turret has a semi-circular metal frame around each gun barrel embrasure to keep the blast bag from flapping during recoil, so it may not need the nets.

Also notice the chain links on the railing around takao's deck edge is drawn taut. So the exaggerated chain sag in the railings of PE sets from the likes of hasagawa and lion roar is inaccurate. The straight chains on white ensign model PE rails is much closer to being accurate.

What you are seeing above decks on Yamato are the sunshield canvases spread over large parts of the deck to afford the crew a respite from the tropical sun while the ship is at anchor.

Here are two photos that give a better example, from my website:
