All of these praises might go to my head. (But, don't stop.)

Honestly, am I doing something that extraordinary? I'm still a newcomer to ship modeling after a ten year break from any model building; and the online community, after market accessories, and abundant references and resources are all new to me. I'm just trying my best to achieve a completed model that might look like so, many that I have been admiring in the online galleries.

After getting into this new obsession last November, I have seen so many masterpieces by the Master Modelers (we all know who they/you are), excellent models by More Accomplished Modelers, average models by Average Modelers, and even some (although very few) mediocre models by Other Modelers.

I don't know where I fit in, in these levels of skill; but I don't think it matters. And I bet it doesn't matter to most of us. I've tried my best at each model since November 2008, and I have tried to incorporate into each new model new techniques and materials that I have seen throughout the online community.

At first, I had described myself as an Above Average Novice. Maybe I have broken free of the "novice" category, but I feel that I have a long way to go and so, much more to learn and to attempt.

The personal assistance from many of the online modelers as well as their encouragements has inspired me to not only please myself, but them as well. I love to share what I'm doing and I love staring at what others are sharing with us. Sometimes, it is the sharing that results in even more personal assistance and suggestions and leads to tips and techniques for future projects. That's what I like about these forums..............the feedback, of any kind.

So thank you, once again, for the kind words of encouragement and I am very glad that my work is pleasing someone, other than just myself.

Well said Carl I'm basically an a/c guy and in the past 6 yrs of being back in the hobby, I've completed 1 kit yet, many in various stages. In the past yr I have already started a 1/700 ARii USS Ranger which I'm trying to backdate
to 1965/66. Also, have the Italeri 1/720 USS Nimitz started. I don't really have alot of time to build these days but, I try to do what I can & find these posts helpful & informative. I for one learn alot from these guys and I attempt my hand at obtaining results similar to what they do.

It's a fun hobby that's for sure

Yes you are doing something really extraordinary. Your models have detail someone would expect to see in a 1/350 scale or larger.

You are a Really Much Above Average Novice and each model you build is better than the previous one.

I'm planning to do her in the 1976/77 Med cruise wit RVAH-9 aboard IT was the squadron's last cruise and was disestablished in Sept 1977

Carl, I'd at least put you in the More Accomplished Modelers category, you're doing a spectacular level of detailing on your Iowa, man. Coming along very well. I'm about to order the Mighty Mo online, I'm sick and tired of waiting for Hobbycrap to get my orders processed, so I'm pushing forward through an online dealer I've gathered much appreciation for through their good service and excellent timeframes - Freetime. I'm also picking up some RAM for the project through them in the same stroke.

Ed, don't get me wrong, but I think... isn't the deck supposed to be on the TOP? I'm not normally a carrier guy, so I might have gotten it wrong...

I'm going to try and finish up a couple of my builds before Mo arrives for the work. I Finally got the Nelson shipping from Greatmodels - they're another dealer with good customer service, their service department is really top notch.

Thanks for the ranking, Simon! "More Accomplished" sounds close, but my modesty says that I'm more of an Average modeler. Maybe just "Fast Learner". Since I only have about 14 ship models under my belt, "More Accomplished" would be misleading, I'd say.
