Great job and at that scale! Truly impressive!!! No flaws, bent stuff or non-straight cuts visible. Couldn't even imagine that was possible...

Hey Kelly

Are you going to use Tom's photo etch life raft holders?

Well... I started to. I agree they would look fantastic when done, but getting them done was the problem. After I came to the realization that each individual canister had to be cut apart from the kit parts, cleaned up, painted, then glued to the individual rack, then get those racks to line up perfectly on the catwalks - let's just say I lost my enthusiasm. The PE racks were just a tad too long also, they hung down too far (or stuck up too far). I've been working on this carrier for over a year now, I am having to pick and choose what I want to spend large amounts of time on, or I'll never get her finished!

Thanks Kelly,

Yes, they looked too tall to me also. Seemed a bit too wide as well. I think the Enterprise can holders are more pronounced because a different design, so the etching for the Enterprise is more important. I love your model, and look forward to your updates always! I knew you had the etch so wanted to see what you think. It will be a while till I start my Nimitz. Heck, I need to finish my Enterprise. I mostly want to get the airwing done before starting the ship.

Small update as promised. It doesn't look like much, but it was some time consuming work! I've got the flag display finished, I decided to stay with my original size as I don't want it to overpower the model:

And I did up a few SH-60 Seahawks, complete with the excellent StarFighter decals (can't say enough good things about these):

The catwalks are from the WEM set. The platforms are either screen mesh or leftover PE from other projects.

Finally finished the air wing!! Man these things bogged me down, I am so glad to have them done. Can't say enough good things about the decals from StarFighter, they worked incredibly well. Here's a sample of the aircraft, now I can finally move on with the ship!

Looking great Kelly. Did you use the WEM cockpit sets or just add detail to the surface of he areas ?
