Nope Saura, the difference between the DML Sprucans/Ticos and the Arii ones is that the Arii ones come with lots of extras-PHMs, LCUs etc!

My first scratch built NUKLAS launcher (is that what its called?). Three more to go. I hope I can make them identical to this one.

You'll probably notice the grainy look of the model. That's Tamiya's spray surface primer. Not good for 1/700! I've been trying to sand as much of it smooth as I can. Never again, with that stuff.



PE bridge windows by Pit-Road. I may re-do the front ones and bend the top of it back like the side ones. I had already attached the bridge piece before getting the PE set. The corner windows were hard to make look right with the PE, so I hope it turns out looking right at the end with putty, paint, and Krystal Klear glass.



Sampson's arrangement of vents? (white styrene pieces) on the outboard superstructure.

Ah, ok, so the Arii ones are like the Skywaves then - I recall hearing the DML ones didn't come with both setups.

That and I could swear I heard the construction layout was different, or something like that... damn my memory sucks.

This is also true, that the Arii one comes with the extras sprue with the LCAC and Pegasus and such - I wanna do something with those eventually.

Both the Arii and DML kits come with the bits needed to make nearly any member of the Tico class - including the first ones which had the quadruped masts. I've lost my Arii kit (stuuuupid of me), but IIRC both kits are identical from the waterline up, with the lower hull sprue being the difference. Arii's lower hull has a separate bow sonar, as well as the small craft.

You may be thinking about the Spruance kits. I've been told that ARII's (I think it was) Spruance kit doesn't have the superstructure error on the aft port side at the helo hangar level, like Skywave does.

Lately i m exhausted from too much work in the hospital so its time for something smaller and easier to build.

Here are some photos of a couple of LCUs i just finished.One is loaded with M-60s anr the other one with M-2s. I have 6 more i m working on.

The "LCUs" are in fact Loose Cannon LCT-5s and the tanks and M-2s are from various Pitroad and DML sets.

Well, I did a preliminary build on my Spruance, and I'm sad to say, the Arii Sprucans have the same glitch in the design, though it IS easy to fix with them - the helipad/hangar base is in one plate, and it's just a matter of a little trimming and you can smooth it up to the superstructure quite easily. I can snap pics if needed.

Cool stuff, I guess I'd need a project like that too, few parts little painting... Fast finish, finally something to finish then!

Good job though, great results in such a short time!

Yes, Simon, I'd like to see the SPRUCAN and maybe the sprues and box art, if possible.

Alright, Carl - by special request, here she is, the Arii Spruance.



The boxart in itself is pretty simple, rather to be expected for a kit this age, nothing much to be said here.



The Instructions are laid out in what I would call a definately unique style - they're lengthwise, folded in three sections over the center piece. Instructions are primarily exploded view design.





Here's the port side walkway view - note, they did seem to screw it up, as the gap should be here but is not, if I recall. There is a shorter section on the starboard side.



A shot to show the thickness of the helipad plate, which also includes the base for the hangar. The hangar is included, so you can model it open.
















As you can see, the extras include an LCAC, some boats, and the Pegasus Hydrofoil. Most detail is raised, but nicely defined in general. A Sprue includes common weapons, and does include the arm launchers from the Ticon, so you could arguably make a modification and have the arm launchers there on a Spruance for kicks if you wanted.

Wow!! That looks like it'll be a fun build!!

Yes, it does promise to be fun - I've kept the superstructure and hull seperate currently, as I was doing it to test-fit the parts and do a partial assembly so I could examine if the gap was there or not. The project is handy so far, and I did start it so I could share a view of the model for comparison amongst the others.
