Yeah, I'm going to work on Shinano first - I realized after a moment that I've got a blessing - Pit-road, in their aircraft set that I'm using, included a fistful of props that have no aircraft, both triple and quad blade props... I'm thinking for my static birds of actually cutting off the pop hubs on my Tamiya aircraft and putting in the Pitroad ones.

Good job though, great results in such a short time!
Thank you Neptune. Thank God i ve got lots of small projects for such stressful periods of time

Yeah, my two Arii boats have small stuff to work on as well, between LCAC's, LCT's, Pegasus Hydrofoils. I've been working on the Shinano frequently though, and some other projects too. I destress with my models, and if one gets annoying, I work on another one. Makes it easier.

Yup. Same here

Thanks for the photots, Sauragnmon!
It looks just like a Skywave/Pit-Road kit. Would a DRAGON kit be the same, as well? Or do they even make one?
I think somebody said that there is a Fujimi Spruance that is more accurate in this area, but lacking in other aspects.
I have found "NO" real Spruance class DDs with that port side hangar / walkway configuration. The hangar bulkhead should come straight down the main deck with no walkway. What were they thinking.

No problem on the pics, Carl - the Arii one looks like it would have the easiest time fixing the problem, because you can just slice the hanger-floor section and cut the notch out. The superstructure's all specific to the class, so you build it from there. The deck on the Spruance/Ticon has the bow plate removed, the aft deck position, and the superstructure has a framing on it.

Are we talking about the same thing?
This is what I am refering to.

The Dragon kit is the same as the Pitroad one. Dragon has just added new decals and PE nand some extra parts to some of their Sprucans (for example the AEMSS mast to the DD-968 kit)

That somebody would be me. Fujimi is better in this area but their masts are too thick and you ll also have to replace the 5" guns which look different than the Pitroad ones you have onboard your other warships.

Carl, man, it could be a whole lot worse - you could have had the ship laid out with the bulkhead extended under that walkway, or it could have been a moulded extension of the superstructure side so you'd have to chop it and putty over and fiddle with it intensely.
Basically, if Arii or Dragon wanted to correct this error, they'd have to make the two walkways symmetrical in length, or approximately, as the Arii one has the short starboard side. To my sight, this would make the hangar platform weak, which is likely what they were thinking, but it could be remedied by putting a ridge in along the inside of the superstructure to hold the hangar base in position. But that's just my thoughts on the subject - anybody thought of seeing if Dragon has a support line that is not centered on replacement parts and the like? I don't know if Dragoncare would listen to the suggestions.

Alright - apparently this morning before I wrote that post, I hadn't checked far enough around the house, for behold, a package hath arrived with my name on it... and needless to say, I couldn't wait to get it upstairs and do a little bit of dry-fit mock-up proof-of-concept work. Now, behold, the Mightier Mo, in Mock-up!
Well, I can see there's going to have to be a little (read, Lot) of putty work in some places, like the aft structure, so I can fit the three VLS in and make them believable. The Broadside VLS seem to be fine for location, a little putty to flush the side up, though using the angled plates would help with that. The 5" turrets appear to have little size gap with the twins, lengthwise, as they still run to the back of the forward mount almost. Interesting to note that the ABLs can actually be modeled with the launchers open, I've never seen somebody have them popped open before, might consider those on my Sprucan.
As usual - questions, comments, queries, rude remarks always welcome.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, BOY!!! Here we go! When I saw the photos of your Mightier Mo mock-up, it made me grin from ear to ear!
This one will be more up-my-alley than your other projects, Simon. You'd better not take a break from it half way through, or anything like that. Many of us, and I think that I can speak for some others, will be disappointed and we will be thirsty for any and all update posts that you can muster on your "Children of What If..." thread.
I just had this idea. Just now! Really, just now! How about a Well Deck with Amphibs coming out the back? If it is a waterline model, let everyone just wonder about the propulsion layout underneath. Just food-for-thought.
And awaaaaaaaaaayyyyy we go! Break the wine bottle on her and get her launched!

I figured you'd get a little frothy at the mouth when I first unveiled her, Carl. I dropped the mockup images for a bit of a teaser and to get some ideas flowing. The well deck, I'm not even going to consider, though the Mk 5 SOC's are going to be set up aft of the #3 5" positions.
The forward stack's going to be a pain, I didn't know how much of the construction was hard-fixed into place. I'll have to chop down a lot and engage in lots of putty-fu to make it look half decent.
I'm not getting started just yet - I have a group build project I'm working heavily on, a modified F-20 Tigershark in Egyptian markings, that I'm trying to prioritize so I can get it finished. Already redid the engine, working on bigger intakes, should be quick and simple from there.

Well, she got one step closer to the slipways tonight, I just finished puttying the modified intakes on my F-20, or at least, the bulk putty work. So that's one step closer towards having the intakes smoothly blended into their positions, so those are one step forward. Once I've got this puppy finished, I'll work on Mightier Mo.
