Flyhawk seems to be re-releasing the HMS Naiad in a limited version, it can be seen on the Chinese part of their homepage. I hope the re-release does not distract any time/resorces from the British destroyers they are planing to release.

I'm not sure you could call the Graf Zeppelin aircraft carrier 'fictitious'. It certainly existed although it never made it into active service but. according to some history, was about 95% completed before Hitler ordered a stop on further work.

Likewise the Italian carrier Aquila was almost completed when Italy surrendered and the ship was seized by the Germans.

Both ships are a lot more 'real' than the USS Montana or the Lion class or the H class battleships.

Yes, it was started, but it never appeared in the way Trumpeter or the other companies showing it. The kits does depict a fictitious completed ship in commission. And not as never completed hulk Graf Zeppelin is a kind of Kriegsmarine 1946 - boring.

There are still plenty of ships, which were in service, for which no kits are available - not even in resin. E.g. HMS Enterprise...

Well, someone could tool the Giuseppe Miraglia. That was a real ship, though a sea plane carrier, but of historical significance none the less.

If I'm remembering correctly, didn't the Graf Zeppelin's catapults get sent to Italy for the Aquila? No idea if they were ever actually installed.

And I would totally buy a 1/350 Aquila.

The catapults were those intended for the Zeppelins sister ship 'Carrier B', so yes they are the same as the one on Zeppelin but not from Zeppelin and they were installed. Aquila had completed static tests and was due to start her under way tests, so I would say this is not a fictitious ship unlike Lion, Montana, H44 etc. Oh Aquila's arrester gear didn't work correctly in her static tests so needed reworking, ie as installed it couldn't catch the aircraft.

Regarding the Zeppelin I'll get one but finish it as Marine 46' with Luft 46' aircraft.
