ADM i am using this type of perforated plate.
mine is from stainless steel(very hard despite the thickness).
So i saw you using to cut a guillotine or cutter.
my question is: your plate is from Stainless Steel too?

My plates are also made of steel, it's aluminium (0,5 mm thick) and I'm using a guillotine supposed to be used for cutting papers and photos and it work very well the blade is very thick and strong, you don't need to buy and expensive one conceived only to cut metal.

The one I used for my aircraft carrier is the first on the list (ref : 80012), use an online automatic translator if you don't speak french to get some help, like this one, don't worry it's easy to order :

in the moment i still have some of my stainless steel plate.
is very good too but the only problem is cut.
i have to use a dremmel cutter and protect my eyes
and beware with the tool

Some more details front and aft on both sides, you can notice on photos the very specific shape of the signal plateform on one side (tubing and mesh), this photo is precious to understand how it's built, it's the only one we can see it so close.

Every time i see this construction i�amazed. Its beautiful to see how clean and perfect is your work.

Thank you for theses nice words , I've made some painting below the flightdeck so now I can screw it to the hull and continue my work on each side, All the ship will be weathered in that way (rust, oil stain and so on). I will show all this more closer with figures when the ship will be finished and everything glued.

Thanks mate, the flightdeck is now screwed and glued (white glue) to the hull for good, I've added a black wash (oil stain) to the aft to finish it, here is 3 more photos, the next time you will see painted things will be at the end of the work only. still a lot of work to do until then.

That anchor winch/windlass doesn't look right. Normally you have only one turn of the chain, and not a full turn at that, with a special wheel for the chain rather than a smooth barrel (as used for ropes).
I may be wrong and I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but I've never seen an arrangement like this before.

The rest of the job is of course perfectly sharp! Very sharp styrene work on that lower deck. Love those covered boxes on the poop deck. Are you planning to use that deck for gaming as well? Or only the sponsons and flight deck?

Hi Neptune, you can find very different type of model and system (see the links), depending of the manufacturer and during the war everything available was installed aboard, from one ship to another of the same class can be noticed a very different model.

These combined models still have a seperate wheel. It's true that in the second link you gave, there is a drum type for chain (first one I ever saw), but I think it can only be used for small ships since the storage capacity of such a drum is very small, while larger ships typically have 10 or more shackles of chain (approx 270m) in seperate chain lockers. These drum types don't seem to be connected to a below deck chain locker.
I'm pretty sure the Casablanca class had chain lockers and hence a chain wheel type of windlass. Best would a picture of the actual ship to be sure what they had onboard of course.
Anyway just wanted to point it out, it's always up to the builder what he wants to do, in the end we all build to have fun don't we?

All the Casablanca class escort carrier have been scraped after the war, none exist today and no photo show exactly the type or model of winch for the anchor, most plans today show a common model used by the US navy at this time but from what I can read, there was different models of winch, some of them allowed to move only one anchor after another and some others were moving both anchors at the same moment, and a third model could move both or only one. Imgination is what is left to fill the gap.
