I also build aircrafts and ships...and because I try to put the same attention to a clean construction into the ships as in the aircraft the ships take a lot longer to build. I have a Trumpi 1/350 carrier that so far almost used up half a tube of putty and lots of evergreen stuff. The quality of most ship models is not up to the quality of aircraft kits, not to mention the details. There are exceptions meanwhile...treat yourself with a Dragon Gearing class and be positively surprised!

...and to comment the build...absolutely outstanding! And not too run down I would say, I have a picture of such a destroyer somewhere after a long artic cruise...looks even worse! I would love to see you do a WWII Fletcher or even a carrier...

Yessss...we need to get him to do the Revell 1/144 Fletcher, with plenty of aftermarket goodies, of course!

As for me, I've got the Forrest Sherman (DDG-98) version of this kit on order from Amazon (spent a gift card from an uncle), and though I'll be building it OOB, this is quite the example.

Well, to be honest I kinda like these smaller ship projects, as you can go HAM on them and superdetail the **** out of them but the project still won't sucumb you.
Atleast I tend to burn out if it starts to feel too much and you can only see the ship getting finished after years. For some that's okay but I want to get sh*ts done!
I prolly differ from the rest aswell as I don't buy any kits to my stash. I plan my projects in advance and then buy everything I want and go for it.
Yes I do have some unfinished ones but I don't stash them!

Well anyway, everything is moving on fine and dandy, wife took camera away for the weekend so no pics. Close to finishing only thing got me wondering why the Pontos set didn't have the choppers and the RHIBs from veteran like the perry class had?
The kit RHIBs are so out of scale they don't even fit the properly so I won't be using them at all.
I ordered some veteran ones so gonna take some time to get them but I'll finish everything else in the mean time.

So next photo update will be the finished model I bet maybe next weekend maybe the next who knows we'll see!

I'm pretty sure we're quite exceptional in that way in the modelling world�

Soon...

So didn't recieve the last veteran bits this week so might aswell post some other stuff while waiting!

So I had some time to go through and add more details while waiting.

Various ropes made from wire were added in few places. Painted Tamiya deck tan and brown wash.




White caps for the nulka launchers.



Various lights on the aft deck made from random PE stanchions. The light bulb was made from white glue then painted silver and on top of that clear orange.
Then an electric wire added for wiring.



The arrestor cables for the flight deck netting made from uschi rigging line. Lines were cut and then the other end dabbed into CA and put into place. The other end was then just pushed in toward the edge of the deck.
54 in total.



Made sure the PE crane base was seamless. One light and a lot of electrical wirings added.



Also the additional satcoms (???) added on both sides.

Excellent...and not over done! Have a look at DDG-67 USS Cole...

Hello everyone, new to the forum. Just wanted to tell Koppalakki that your work is excellent and an inspiration. I saw your Yamato thread and learned a great deal. I will be posting a small A-86 torpedo boat I'm nearly done with soon, but I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to detail your process. As you are probably aware, it helps us newbies quite a bit to see a master and his techniques.
