The individual details, from FF to FF, keep popping up as I study the inspiration photos. The latest being the gray canvas railings on the pilot house top on the FF-1062. The white ones on the FF-1086 were more obvious.

And then, there is no Captain's Gig on the FF-1062. I may have to portray an empty platform, there, and then make something like that under the gigs for the others, too.

The FF-1086 doesn't have the more modern life raft cannisters. I has the older inflatable raft "bags", instead.

If you see any more differing details, please feel free to let me know. And that goes for anyone, out there.

Oh, I know! I know!

I looked at the two different missile launchers that I have (AFV Club and Skywave/DML) and I couldn't see how I could make this detail work with them.

I'd have to scratch build something to look like that and then make all three ships' launchers match. I chose not to portray that detail, at all.

My dio is about 5 minutes after they leveled out that launcher. Ha!

But, this is exactly what I'm asking for, Rui! You've got the best eye for details, that I have run across, so far. At least the only one that speaks up about it, the most. And that's a good thing.

I'm curious about how you're going to do that tripod based radio mast atop the after deck house in 1/700. The best shot I've seen on it is http://www.navsource.org/archives/09/25/09250617.jpg

I was hoping that you were going to tell me how to do it, Russ.

It has crossed my mind and I'm hoping that there is a close match of PE supports in the various sets of brass that I have.

Another odd thing is that the port crane arm on the Ajax is longer than the staboard one. Hmmmph?!

Cargo handling first, what that is, is an extension that can either be taken off or can be folded under/over. When extended, the crane has longer reach but lower weight capacity.How to describe this? You're going to need another crane boom of slightly smaller "thickness", the large end of which would fit the end of the basic ship's crane.

I think the radio mast is a brass wire situation with the triple support legs being thinner stock than the verticle. You can get low temp solder from model expo. They also have "magnesia block" which is heat proof but porous. Stick your verticla into it and the tripod legs leaning into the mast with the low temp paste on the mast ends and touching the mast. Apply the soldering iron to the end of the mast and remove when the low temp solder melts. I'd start with longer wires than needed and when done, trim the wires to get the proper lengths. The angle of the legs to the mast has to be pretty small.

The alternative is CA, of course, but I think that would be extremely delicate, given the minimal sizes of the connecting faces.

As for the launchers "problem", you have to sacrifice 2 to make one like that:
1 - One for the two launchers (starboard side)
2 - One to cut both ends, for the 3 upright launcher and the port one

It's a cheap price for that extra detail

I understand what you mean, Rui.

The disappointing thing about the two different launchers that I have is that they are both hollow underneath, not solid. But, I haven't given up the thought.

The smartest thing to use is Milliput White or Tamiya Light Curing Putty (I have used it recently on a project with major surgery with very high success).

If you need a launcher, so that you have two equal parts, please ask

This project is on the back burner, for a little while, while I'm trying to put some additional finishing touches on my PT Boat Tender diorama; which I should have done much earlier, this year.

There's a chance that my USS Oyster Bay could show up in a book about PT Boats. That is a wonderful and flattering opportunity.

After searching my PE for suitable pieces to build this tripod mast out of, I had to result to all brass rod.
