G'day Ron Lad,

Just been looking at your 'highlighted' doors etc. and it does make one heck of a difference. The superstructure sides don't look so bland and as you say the doors standout instead of blending into the overall grey. I like very much. Good on yer Ron lad. By the way I don't think you, certainly I don't, have enough hair for highlights. Also considering our respective ages.

As you say , The Muppetts getting better, I am working on the funnel bracings at the moment, we are getting near the time to fit the radio gear, but for now I will keep on building the small stuff.

Looking lovely Ron: I particularly like the scramble net in the background of the first few shots. Bit over-scale though, maybe?

It's missing a certain something, though. Actually, it's missing six certain somethings...I'm sure we're all wondering when's the guns going in???

Euhm, Ron, my eyes might be cheating on me, but did this ship only have the black boot topping on its Port side??? Otherwise I think you forgot something on the starboard side... Or was that in the schedule?

Looking bright and nice though! (more so than I thought it would for a US ship). So I see you don't have the barrels yet?

That's his advanced age. Can't remember what he did five minutes ago. We should be happy the model got any paint on that side.

No I have not forgotten the boot topping,You have to remember to do the other side I have to take it outside and turn it round, if the weathers not right it has to wait, doing lots of other things, my camera screen has just burnt out, camera , caput, bust, I will have to fall back to my 12m pixel one,

Ah Ok, seemed a bit odd to me, because there's a big superstructure on it with plenty of detail and you'll have to turn the hull to get that boot topping fixed! But of course if weather's the problem then I guess it's logical (and most of your superstructure is detachable anyway).

Good luck with that little job though!

Hi Neptune,(Roel) The thing to remember is, I can take the superstructure off but I also would have to take every thing else off , I am only just begining to fasten things down, if its wet and windy the problem is carrying it out putting it down , walking round the other side and bringing it back, 15 yards at the most, in that short distance it can be damaged or wet, if I cover it over the wind can catch the covers and damage it, so its best left till the right time for turning, and as Maggy said , this lady is not for turning.

Les, I was thinking of you at the time, the horror I had, must have triggered something, and it self distructed, its good to have friends, even if they are Pirates.

Splendid work to date Admiral! You work lightning fast on a big model! It takes me forever to finish some AA guns in 1/700. I can't imagine the time it would take in the big big scale!

And like some other I'm very much looking forward to seeing her with her teeths installed and ready for action!

I am speachless, very nice looking ship sir

Hi Guys, As you can see from the first photo , I have been building the girder work under the platform, these are plasti strut I sections, cut and bent to shape.





Next I drilled the stacks and the I sections and fitted steel wire braces to the stack, also more work on the second torpedo launcher.




Viewed from a different position.



I then continued on to put the steel wire on the forward stack, and gave the top of the torpedo launcher a first coat of paint.





An overall view of the work.




I have given all the steel wire a coat of matt black finish.




To finish off I put the first coat of deck blue on the torpedo launcher, you may also notice I put a steel wire from the main mast to the edge of the flying bridge.

Hi Ron I like the way you have fitted the after funnel stays. Question have you been been giving the weathering treatment to the side of the fore funnel because it looks very effective.

Ron the Moffett is really going good, but I'm curious. Maybe I missed it in an earlier posting, but when are the 5" mounts going to get some teeth?
