I got the Battlefleet Models RHIBs in the mail, today!!



This is my 25mm Chain Gun that I made from the Pit-Road PE-139 set parts and added some thin styrene to beef it up a little. It looked too, thin otherwise.

For some under construction CVWs i haven t built the aircraft carriers yet but i will.

For example i ll build CVA-42 1972 for which the airwing is almost complete. There is an HP kit for this ship but it represents the ship in its 1957 configuration and needs to be modified. I ll wait for some years hoping that it will be released and if it isn t then i ll buy the kit and build and modify it.

I also want to build CVA-34 but i ll wait until i find the JSP kit in a reasonable price on ebay or someone else releases a new CVA-34 kit when and if i find it CVW-16 1966-1968 will be there waiting.

The church scene had me laughing, but yeah, you're going to hell for that one.

Nektarios, you are a madman, and a masochist. Carrier planes are insanity incarnate. Good job on them though.

Alright, I have a question - what are the radars at the top of the mast on the Iowa Class? Is there a means that I could invalidate their requirement and do away with them? Right now, those are the main thing stopping my installation of the sixth VLS, namely because the missiles would go up right through the mast rigging, and has bad written all over it. If I can remove the mast, and those radar units, I can build it and chop down the stack section of the tower and install the VLS, including more putty-fu.

On the foremast, they are the SPS-10 and SPS-49. I'm no expert, but I'd say that you can do away with them because of the AEGIS stuff. Arleigh Burkes don't have the radar arrays, but Ticos have both. AEGIS and a bunch of domes should do, I'd say.

I picture the forward superstructure with an angled stack (maybe five sided) and put the AEGIS panels on the aft side of it instead of near the #3 16" turret like you're planning. I know that the stack would have no propulsion purpose because the Mightier Mo is nuclear powered, but an Arleigh Burke-looking stack that melds into the upper, forward superstructure and fighting top would look pretty cool and could house more people compartments, with portholes and mezinines, or flying bridge looking aft. And lots of domes.

I already actually have the aft Aegis in place, they're sitting right behind the aft VLS, just short of the deck. I could get rid of the dishes, that's a good idea. I might do it, I'm entertaining the thought. I put in some extra plate detail around that area too, cut in pieces of the original structure to give a surface detail. The center block VLS have been fixed, putty work is begun. The center aft VLS I've started the putty work around, where the aft stack used to be. All told, the aft block really has a short, stocky look now, which makes it different. I don't have any spare Burke style stacks, but it's an interesting thought. I'll probably snap pics of the latest work in the morning, after a little more putty-fu.

You may not use the AN/SPS-49 and move the AN/SPS-10 An Aegis equipped ship doesn t need another search radar.

OK, here's an update on Mightier Mo, on the section of the ship I'm calling the post office, because this sucker can ship a whole lot of air mail.











So, Behold, my putty-fu is continuing, and it is strong. It's a harsh, and annoying, process, but slowly, slowly, it's paying off in the stretch. I know, the plates LOOK bad, but I promise, they actually look better than the pictures show, I've taken my pin vice and scratched off most of the putty overrun that was over defined things such as pipe/wire lines to clear them off so I still have definition. There's small gaps under the aft AEGIS plates, I was thinking the protective covers slide out and fold up over the AEGIS mounts, and lock into place over them. The forward mounts would probably be a straightforward pop-up deflector wall to cover them.

This ship should be classified as a WMD.

I've mounted the .50cal guns from Pit-Road PE set PE-139 to my Sampson and completed and mounted the last pair of NULKs.

She's all done!

Carl, very nice model once more. I espcially like the rigging you did.

I have several resin F-32s from the JAG stealth carrier kit that i wont use .Anyone wants them??? Sauragnmon maybe they will be good for for a what-if project.

Yes, I am employed full-time. I work from home and set my own schedule for office work and trips out of the office and out of town. If my office work is done by noon and I'm just available to answer phone calls and emails, then that's just extra time to get some modeling in; or laundry or dishes or house cleaning or lawn mowing. Most of my modeling is evenings and weekends. And with nobody else in the house, then there are no interuptions.
