Hi Norbert Thank you for that but Barry Deans book has been part of my collection for some time. In fact it has served me well , I certainly would have found it difficult to move forward to build Kiev without it. BUT I would love to lay my hands on "The Anatomy of the Aviation cruiser Kiev"

As mentioned more of the small item are being fitted into place starting aft
and working forward. Here the first job was to lay on the ships name in Cyrillic
letting KNEB . Next the Soviet emblem which embosses the stern . The emblem
was bespoked along with the Cyrillic lettering and a compass cutter was used
to lift it from the sheet .


As the emblem is self adhesive all that was required was to lay it over the raised disk .

The next job was to cut out the styrene corrugated surface that will be fixed
beneath the port opening

Paint the surface black

.This corrugated surface is fitted into place .

The next job was to make using discarded sections of 4 bar rail the rails as fitted
across each of the openings and fit these to the pre-prepared deck sections .

The deck section plus fitted rails are eased into the opening

Each of the deck surfaces are placed into position within the openings . Now that
I�m confident they will fit both can be removed and reset as a permanent fixing.

One of the other signage jobs is the Kiev�s crest , I�ll have a go at preparing this one .

Hi Russ You are always welcome . We frequently get visitors from OZ TF72 these guys time it when the major shows are around which is one a month at the hight of the season, somewhere in the UK . If you ever want to pay a visit give me a call .

When you said the emblem is bespoke, did you mean that you made it yourself, or did you have it made? I will need the same type of thing for Varyag and it would be really helpful to know how, or where, you were able to "obtain" such great detail.

Hi Andrew Thanks for you kind comments .The lettering and Soviet emblem was made to order { I supplied the original} from Barry's Model Lettering www.modellettering.com he's the only producer in the UK providing large scale Russian lettering, Numerals {naval} and emblems .

Hi Kalkurap Thanks , yes I couldn't wait to get a shot of a number of Yak38s on the flight deck, a bit of a photo opportunity as they say . They have gone back into the hanger! whilst I carry on finishing off some of the deck details.

Hi Mitchell300 It's an open bet as to which ship enters service first . The modified Gorshkov for the Indian Navy or my Kiev ? both have had a rather extended BUILD period!!!!

Hi Jim I'm biting at the bitt for Telford but Kiev needs more work yet , and I can't have the commissioning of the ship without a crew!!!
