I've recovered enough to proceed with the test coat of paint. For the most part, they look good to me. Just a couple of seams to fill, some holes to drill, some excess material to sand down, and some corners to build up. One thing that has become immediately apparent is that there are a lot of hard to paint areas that need to be coated prior to adding PE railings. Otherwise, the railings are going to get way too much paint.

These tankers look great. Glad to see some progress - i was worried about your IJN fleet drifting around the Pacific having run out of fuel. Keep up the good work - you are an inspiration to all of us.

They are coming along real nice

I do appreciate the encouragement, friends.

Kenyo Maru�s bridge is now mostly complete, with about half the details that are to be included. Nothing else can be done until it�s permanently glued in, which can�t happen until after the hull and main deck railings are done. So, just for show here. I chose not to use the kit provided searchlight and assembly except for the trestle base. Upper railings are too thick, and the searchlight too unrefined. I used the far superior FineMolds piece. These are 90cm searchlights, the same as used on the first class DDs.

I'm going to try something new here with the photo posting, higher rez but smaller footprint files. Let me know if the pics enlarge properly to a good size. Thx.

Great work. Big difference in the searchlight platform and light. The pictures look nice.

As pointed out by many folks before, the tyranny of the digital camera is absolute. So many little flaws, almost impossible to correct. Of course, if I hadn't crushed the railings countless times. it would look better to begin with.

Dan, your dedication to getting every detail right is inspiring (and frightening)! Keep up the great work. I always look forward to your "works in progress" builds.

If we could factor in a rogue wave or two, than, yes, I could go with that.

Kyokuto Maru's bridge almost done. I may add a bit more detail to both bridges at this stage then I originally intended, as I can see how to go about it without screwing up. Of course, the actual execution may falter a bit.
