Hi Guys, Its time to start fitting the radio gear and the motors.
First of all I have fit the rudder servo, its fitted to two 1 inch thick blocks of balsa wood. Try to get the arm level with your rudder linkage so you have a nice straight linkage rod, also place it where you have access for maintenance.
Servo seen from under the position of the rear gun turret, note the screw thread on the linkage, this gives you a little bit more adjustment if needed.
Here's the first motor just placed in position, note the packing pieces on the bottom of the hull, this lines up the motor to the shaft.
The first 2 motors fitted in place with a two part epoxy resin called Araldite, also note the section cut out of the middle motor stanchion bracket. Its a tight fit in there, that's why I usually say forward planning, remember how we staggered the shafts, well now we stagger the motors to get them in the space.
Number 3 motor fitted like number 2 motor with the cut away only on the opposite side this time, more tomorrow.

Hi Guys, hese are my batteries that will be going in to ID.
The batteries are Power Sonic rechargeable weighing 5lbs each. When charging, charge at 0.5amps slow charge, this way you do not cook the batteries. They will last for years. My charger is a Ripmax 2-6-12 volt with the two dials you can regulate the charge.

Hi Guys, Iron Duke got its heart today, batteries, speed controls and radio.
This is the working end of the build. I never set up any fancy installations, everything will come out in 5 minutes, I first set up the port side and get that working, then set up the other side the same way.
1. Fit speed control
2. couple up motors to speed control
3 fit battery and couple up to speed control, not forgetting to put a fuse in line, 5-10 amps.
4. put in receiver and on /off switch.
5. plug in speed control to receiver.
6. plug in 6 volt battery pack to receiver.
7. Turn on main radio and then the radio in the boat,
8. push throttle away from you and the motors should be turning.
9. when turning off, you turn the switch off in the boat and then your main radio.
As you can see 2 turning props.
This is what they look like when stopped.

Well Guys, The day has come were ID goes to the wet dock for testing and ballasting before the launch day.
This is the second time ID has been in the tank, yesterday the test did not go quite to plan. I had 2 small leaks on the prop shaft strengtheners. So the model had to be dried out over night and sealed with a liquid resin this morning. The resin worked a treat, no leaks on second test. So were all ready for launch day 2nd APRIL 2006
The models all up weight on the water is 55lbs.

Hi Guys, the Admiral struck his standard today, were nearly there,
The red and yellow on the starboard side is the letter O, this is flying on the photo of the ship 1916.
The 3 on the other side I will leave Geoff or PSSHIPS to tell you that one.

Hi Guys, A bit more work done today.
Two more coaling booms made and fitted.
The trash shoot made and fitted. Also the 6th casement gun fitted.
Port navigation lights fitted, 1 electric and 1 oil.
Trash shoot painted. Casement gun and blast bag fitted.
And for Timmy C you may notice the second birds nest fitted on the first stack.
Stern view, the cutaway section finished and hatch fitted.

Hi Guys, More bits and bob's
First I fit the depth markings to the stern and then the aerial lines to the receiving room on the rear superstructure.
Also fitted the bow depth markings,
A close up of the aerial lines. Also 2 more davits for the gangway plank at the stern.

Hi Guys, These are the last pictures of ID before her launch day tomorrow weather permitting.
I have added some more weathering to the hull, mainly in places water would strike when sailing. Also on the chain at the bow.

For some reason I missed these when first posted. Stupid cookies.

This one is my favorite. Without the 1:1 buildings in the background it could pass as a real war photo. Great work Admiral.

The Keel on Marlborough, is the same thickness as the frames ( 1/8" ply).
You need to support the keel along its length, by screwing some small blocks either side, so that the whole length of the keel is held upright and straight. Once this has been done, you can start adding the frames. Make sure that the frames are at right angles to the keel before glueing. Have a look at the Marlborough eary build pictures where I started adding the frames to the keel. ( Page 2 of Marlborough Build. You will notice the wooden blocks supporting the keed, to the building board. )
Make sure you lay the keel on the board over a piece of polythene, to stop the glue sticking everything to the board whaen you apply the frames. The pictures will show you step by step.
