I really don't see another way to it, short of fully scratchbuilding the forward TT well deck.

You can use the Tamiya kits for Natori or Kinu - I do not know, which one would be better.

Re: Calling all IJN Light Cruiser fans
Kinu is a better starting point because the fittings are the same as those for Nagara. But, you would still need the Nagara bridge, minus the radar/support & a change to the AA at the front of the bridge.

Well If nothing new coming out soon how accurate is Yahagi and agano ? Is tamiyas IJN Yahagi better suited for IJN Noshiro in 1944?

Re: Calling all IJN Light Cruiser fans
Though they lack the extent of detail that newer toolings offer, they are fundamentally accurate. Note that the Yahagi kit is as of her commissioning in late 1943, not her 1944-45 appearance.
for references, I would suggest pp 1 & 4 of the CASF Agano thread: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=47756 ,and (if I may) my conversion of the Yahagi to Noshiro 1944: http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery ... index.html
Model Art Ship Modeling Special #19 (vol 701) is an excellent reference for the class.

Re: Calling all IJN Light Cruiser fans
Ah yes I am familiar with your Norshiro build ( very well done!) kinda bumed that the kit isn't good for her late war look but that's how it is. I'll just keep waiting I guess as my skills aren't up to par with yours. I was just looking for a companion for my Yamato. I'll re-attempt my old destroy project of Isokaze , Hamakaze , and Yukikaze in which I stoped after some bridge trouble on the windows :/ I'll start back on this once I hammer out some IJN subs lol

There are a bunch of "new" releases set for December from Fujimi over at HLJ. Anybody know if these are just repops in new boxes? The prices are very low so it makes me wonder.

Referenced ships: Natori, Kinu, Jintsu.Guest wrote:There are a bunch of "new" releases set for December from Fujimi over at HLJ. Anybody know if these are just repops in new boxes? The prices are very low so it makes me wonder.
Agreed, based on pricing, new box art, but likely old molds. Would have expected Fujimi's re-pops to come with PE supplements, but no indication of that here.

Re: Calling all IJN Light Cruiser fans
It's the same boxart as their old releases of those ships, so they're probably just repops.

Re: Calling all IJN Light Cruiser fans
Timmy, you are correct and I should have been more specific - old art, new graphic design, and as we all seem to agree, pricing strongly suggests old molds.Timmy C wrote:It's the same boxart as their old releases of those ships, so they're probably just repops.

Re: Calling all IJN Light Cruiser fans
There was some concern over whether the latest iterations of Fujimi's IJN light cruisers are new molds or old ones - the kits have been released and Hobby Search has photos of the parts as usual: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10250960
So definitely not new.

Does this kit have a waterline option? Or is the kit strictly full-hull?Atma wrote:The new IJN Isuzu by Aoshima in 1/350 is out :

"Haijun" means "navy" in Mandarin Chinese.

Molded as full hull. Pictures at above link do not show if there is a waterline cut-line for reference, nor is there a waterline plate to close a waterlined hull.CCGSailor wrote:Does this kit have a waterline option? Re: Calling all IJN Light Cruiser fans
A friend of mine is just starting to build IJN in the Aleutians, so he would very much apreciate any details on ships with arctic camouflage. To start with, can anyone please share his opinion on the Tama camouflage in Profile Morskie 22 (below)? While Tama's port bow photograph is well known, references for port aft camo and for the starboard side are rare. I tend not to believe PM too much (after my experience with Furutaka etc.), on the other hand, the PM volume is also showing camo on the horizontal surfaces of Tama, which definitely was in place there but is very rarely shown.
References to arctic camo of other IJN vessels would be much apreciated, too.
