I keep seeing nice models ruined by a poor water rendering. This cannot be said about yours!

Work continues on my DRAGON USS Virginia CGN-38. I've been working on the black wash, this weekend.

This weekend, I've been working on the forward superstructure's railings. Three more pieces to go and its on to the aft superstructure.

I am using L'Arsenal's 1/700 WWII USN Railings set and the selection of two different sizes of two-bar railings is working out just perfectly. I am often surprised and thrilled when sections of railings (no matter the brand) match up with the locations that they are to be attached without having to bend them in between two stanchions.

This is a superb result you have achieved with the wash... And a really beautiful ship... Perhaps I get my hands on one of these babies...

A lot of railings are going into this build. There are a lot of places to fall from, on this ship, if the railings weren't there. Seems to be more than other builds that I have done.

I'm totally out of the two-bar rails from the L'Arsenal sets. I have two more sets on order with Tony Bunch.

I'll be anxiously waiting progress reports on your USS Sullivans DDG-68 build.

I'm rather proud of the railings on the stern, here. The dimensions of the three-bar railings weren't quite matching up for this area but, I was finally able to figure out a solution. It took some intricate bending and trimming. I got lucky, again!





I still have a few pieces of railings to attach and I'm waiting for them in the mail. I still have to apply a couple pieces of the red warning stripes around the aft weapons radar mounts, rigging, and antennas.

I jumped to this thread from your link in the CASF Virginia. WOW!! You don't lack for ambition and your ambition is matched only by your speed and skill. Outstanding collection, sir.

If you're up for some nit-picking on the Virginia build, which is excellent, by the way, I'd offer the observation that the stern Tomahawk ABL's were angled off the fore/aft run (the starboard one, at least) in every picture I can find. Also, the tie-downs apparently didn't extend into the area between the ABL's. The starboard ABL had to be angled to clear some deck equipment.

It's not a bad kit, is it? Some good and some not-so-good aspects to it. I'm doing a build-up review on it for Tim Dike.

If you'd like some comments on the kit's accuracy issues based on what I can see in the photos, let me know. Otherwise, I'll stay out of your hair and look forward to your review.

Well, my DRAGON 1/700 USS Virginia CGN-38 is finished! It will be berthed in my harbor diorama (still in progress) for a while before making a separate water base for it some time in the future.
