Here is my finished build. As finished as it will get. It could really use photoetched stack grills. Here is the early January 1942 IJN Akikaze.

Re: Tin Can (DD/DE) Group Build!
I know the deadline's past but I finished adding the finishing touches onto my AAW DE so I thought I'd share with the group.
Added the last of the PE, guns, directors, and painting touch-ups. The PE Oerlikons were a royal pain in the rear so I decided to just cut the main gun assembly off the brass sheet and attach them to the kit supplied bases/shields. I thinned the plastic shields down considerably as well. I think the effect is pretty decent given the scale. The whole ship is only 5" long
The whaleboat will be hanging over the side so I don't want to add it until I finish the water base and get all the ships mounted. I've already knocked some pieces off while handling this one and I know the boat won't fair well given my track record so far

Enjoy!
-Mike

Re: Tin Can (DD/DE) Group Build!
Thus far, I have only received 3 submissions. I know far more people have built kits! I ask please send all submissions to my email or as a message (jds560 at gmail.com) so the judging process can go as swiftly as possible!

drdoom,
Thanks for this second chance to submit photos for this Group Build. I didn't realize that we had to submit pics separately from this forum. I have sent an email, to you, with the photos of my entry.

Re: Tin Can (DD/DE) Group Build!
I have received your entry. For those other builders that question why I'd like photos sent to my email, it's because I feel it's unfair to judge from photos that may have been hastily taken. This also allows me to judge from the photos you feel are the most outstanding of your model!NukeMM wrote:drdoom,

Not yet! We have to go over all the models together. I'll create a thread congratulating 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize as soon as the judging is complete. Please bare with us as at least I have an extremely busy schedule and usually only get online around midnight (EST).NukeMM wrote:Any results from the judging, yet?

Re: Tin Can (DD/DE) Group Build!
Wow!!! Really????
I am humbled by your selection because there were so many excellent builds that were done.
I would like to thank those who made this happen and I would say that a lot of the credit goes to Niko Models. They really make a nice kit.
Thanks again,
Mark

Re: Tin Can (DD/DE) Group Build!
Congratulations, to you, too, Bob!
I'm pleasently surprised about my placement in this group build. I thought that the only way I'd win anything is if they had an award for the fastest build. I finished my Allen M. Sumner in 8 days.
Well done to all of the entrants!!
