Sarcasm, I hope? Really, I don't have the skills for such a job, and my budget (and the local hobby shops' inventories) don't really allow for replacement kits if I mess up. The serious builders around here have bigger budgets and order a lot of things from overseas, so the shops mostly stock the basics only. A pain in the stern for me, who has to make do with what's available in the here and now...

Another couple of questions came up, by the way: would the decals for the Revell LHA-4 in 1/720 be usable on the 1/700 LHA-1 from Italeri/DML? I figure that if I'm posing the LCC-20 together with another phib, it should be one from the same ocean at least... Also, is there an easy source for 1/700 RAM launchers somewhere, aside from the 1/720 ones in the Italeri CVN-76 kit? I'd like to update my LHA, but not at the expense of the CVN...

As to building the launch tube and missile on the cheap - start with some sheet styrene, the basic dimensions of the launcher mounting, and go from there - you don't have to make it extremely detailed in truth. Just remember, the Granit's an axial flow jet, so it should look something like a MiG-21 without the seat.

As to a cheap source for RAM lauhchers - JAG Collective produces a set of four at a decent price. You can get it through freetime hobbies, and they go together quite nicely - I have four of them myself for the Mightier Mo.

Nektarios, those subs look pretty damn cool, I must say. I Might eventually pick up a couple of subs - a Typhoon, an Alfa, maybe an Oscar... they're a side subject for me really.

First of all it is possible to see ships from different oceans operating together. This is seen quite often in the Gulf.

I have lots of spare decals so i can send you some for LHA-4 on monday ( everything is closed for Christmas these days ).

For me they are a way to relax from more difficult builds and when i do not have time to devote to building (like now).

Yes they do they come fully painted and full hull but with a lot of patience i did it.

Last week i bought the new Swedish navy Visby class corvette. The kit has two options for the turret of the stealthy 57mm Bofors gun. One with the shutters open and the barrel visible.and one with closed shutters. I used the first to improve the looks of my LCS-1. The gun provided in the kit was not good so i replaced it with this one.

Happy Holidays, I am finally done with school and able to get a model finished. I finished the last of the CG's I aimed to complete for my Atlantic Fleet. Next I will be working on my first CVN. Here are some pics of the CG 72 Vella Gulf.

Orb I visited your site and found it very interesting. I like the in progress shots of the builds. Cannot wait to see the finished products.

I just started on the CVN 71. Looking for hanger deck images to see if I will fill it or not. The issue I have is that they will be to hard to see any of the details in this scale. Does anyone have any solutions to this other than rigging lights inside.

A solution is to leave a part of the flightdeck unpainted in order to see the interior of the hangar deck. I wouldn't do that in one of my carriers but it is a solution.
On my older (Italeri) carriers i avoided to add too much detail to the hangar deck accepting the fact that it wouldn t be visible after i added the aircraft inside the hangar. The best thing to do is to place 10-12 aircraft inside the hangar in places where they can be seen from the open hangar doors.

I agree with not wanting to leave part of the fight deck unpainted. I do not think it will look right. I think I will just position aircraft as if the the opening were like window frames, like mini dioramas. Like you suggested.

The best solution that i can think is to place your aircraft next to the wall of the hangar deck and maybe in front of them some small hangar deck vehicles and many figures to give the impression that the hangar deck is full of life and movement.

This is my last post this year. So i think i kept the best for last.

The news for Essex class lovers are definitely good.
Some days ago i received some photos of a friends build of Ships and Co future kit CVS-14.



When this kit is released we ll be able to build any of the Intrepid, Ticonderoga and Hancock.

that's not fair! all you 1/700 guys always get the good stuff.
