Here are some photos of a couple of Regia Marina MHC-51 Class coastal minehunters in 1/700.

Great little gems, and the Visbys are sweet too. How big are they, can you show a shot compared to a US ship?

I would like to build some more of the MHCs, but the set I received needed a lot of attention. I think it has nothing to do with Regia Marina, just issues with the postal service. They are fun to work on though.

I will try to post some pics of the CVN 71 progress or lack of later this week.

The set of Regia Marina Ships i got had no problems. I ll definitely build more of them.

Thanks for the comparison, I just did not know much about that class. Very nice indeed. Like I said I think it was a postal issue rather than one of Regia Marina. One day I will build more of them and find a Iwo Jima Class to make the LPH12 as the command ship. I think you have the LPH12 Inchon in that configuration correct?

Yes i do. I just bought some of the new Pitroad helicopter sets. It was a good surprise that this set gives you the option to make either CH-53Es or MH-53s.
I ll build a couple of them as MH-53s put them onboard. The only modern U.S. mine warfare ship not produced in 1/700 is MCM-1 Avenger class.

Good looking ships you have there! I really like how diverse your interests are. Just out of curiosity... is there any navy that you haven't built a ship from yet but would like to in the future? Of course I mean the 'major' navies around. Perhaps India? That thought just came to mind because I found some older pictures that I took of the INS Mumbai...

I have not built upto now any ship from:
French navy: I have a MN (Marine Nationale) Lafayette class stealth frigatte that i intend to build in the NEAR future. I also want to build HP CDG aircraft carrier but there is the price issue. 180 euros is just too much to spend on a ship that doesnd have any decals or PE.

Italian Navy: I have the Giusepe Garibaldi aircraft carrier. I ll build it in the future and also want to build the new stealthy class DDG and the new Italian aircraft carrier Conte di Cavour plus the 2 replenishment ships and some smaller surface combattants.

Indian Navy: I m waiting for the IHP kit of Hermes to make INS Viraat. I ll build some escorts for it.

Canadian Navy: No kits in 1/700 (unfortunately)

Australian Navy: I ll build in the future Perry class DDGs. I had all 3 Australian CFA versions but now they are retired.

Spanish Navy: I ll build in the future a Santa Maria class FFG and maybe a Principe De Asturias(scratchbuilt).

I also want to build more ships of the German navy and RN like Bremen and Sachsen/ Type 23 and Type 45

I would love for someone to produce some MCM-1s that would fulfill the mine warfare ships for me. God news on the MH-53s I think I will need to place them on my list as well.

Thanks, I have not started the Island yet. The hanger bay, I painted the deck and the bulkheads with the base coats. I hope to get more done tonight.

That's an interesting list, Nektarios. Definitely interesting would be the French CDG and also the Italian Garibaldi, but then again... everything you mentioned is interesting! Apart from the issue with not having enough time to build, there's definitely also the money issue. I'm still trying to avoid all resin kits for that reason. Good thing my girlfriend still thinks the PE comes with each kit

I started off wanting to build just a USN carrier group for starters and now that idea has grown into wanting to build Russian, USN and RN carrier groups. Also JMSDF ships are on my list.

I also started wanting to build just U.S. Navy ships. Then i wanted to build some "enemy" ships (Soviet/Russian). Later i started building some allied ships too. and now i want to build a long list of postwar warships.
Now i prefer to build resin over plastic kits because they contain less parts.
Heiko when you start with JMSDF ships you wont be able to stop. There are some very interesting ship kits available nowdays. you can make almost any postwar JMSDF kit in 1/700.

Nope your eyes arent deceiving you. The MHC-51 class are armed with just 2 0.50' caliber guns. I couldn t find where they re placed in the photos i have and the guns provided in the kit look too big for 0.50's so i left the ships unarmed until i find some real 0.50s in 1/700.

How many ships have you got in your collection, Nektarios? I think I remember reading sometime back that you wanted to build the entire US navy fleet? That would be stunning.

JMSDF ships are definitely interesting ships. I already purchased a Kongou class ship and will look for an Atago as well. Since they are too similar to the Arleigh Burke that I just built, I'll work on them a bit later. I try to build a totally different ship every time to keep things even more interesting than they already are. Perhaps the next will be a US LHD...

I'm sure that at some point there won't be any way around buying a resin kit and I have a feeling it just might have to be a Visby

Does anyone know what the part E24 are suppose to be in the Trumpeter CVN kits? According to the directions they belong in the hanger deck. Just would like to know what they are and the correct colour to paint them. Needless to say I just started on the hanger deck.

If I recall, you're doing CVN-71 right? I have no idea what part it is as I don't have one myself. Someone'll come along with the info you seek

Correct I am working on the CVN 71. I think they are some sort of lift truck and the color should be yellow.

I think they are representinghttp://ourdanka.com/obin/obinjess/2008_ ... g_5881.jpg, but not sure.
At least I have some of the painting done for the hanger deck.
