The aircraft I have going are carrier based but, not for these carriers 1/72 & 1/48 birds. I'll start in on the air wing for the Hornet sometime soon tho

Hmmm I ve never tried that. Four carriers at the same time seems too much for me. My record is three at the same time but it took me 2 months to finish them. When i worked on two carriers at the same time it took me 3 weeks to finish them.

It is a handful to say the least & right now, the 1/700 Hornet is on hols... awaiting some pe details (railings, hatches,etc) a friend has in his spares box. The 1/542 Forrestal is a restortation (complete rebuild) which, I'm taking my time with

Ed, I can sympathize with you for working in the slightly larger scales on the aircraft - I've been cranking out work on a couple of wingy things of late, in my usual What-If style - an IRIAF F-14, modified with Russian assistance into a multirole package akin to the F-14D, and a Sovietized CF-105 Arrow. I can toss up some pics if you boys want. Yes, contrary to the rumors, I am not dead, I've just been working on wingy things, thus nothing to post.

Yes please do post some pics that would be very interesting.

Fuselage is now closed up and being prepped for paint.
Been backdating a 1/72 Kangnam RA-5C to the A-5A which is about 1/2 done nopw.

Alright, current pictures only so I'm not spamming horribly, here we go. First up, the IRIAF Super Alicat. Who can spot the changes? I'll give you guys a day to spot them and then I'll tell you all.







Some are obvious, others are a little more subtle.


Next up, we have the MiG-105 "Arrowski" as I called it, a Sovietized CF-105 Arrow. Started as the Hobbycraft 1/72 CF-105, I did it gears up since the gears were being a pain. I Carved the hatches on the weapons bay open, and built a simple enough weapons bay into the model to house an R-27T "Alamo" missile, one of three in principle. I also put on two R-60 "Aphids" and repainted the canopy lines so it looked like the MiG-25's canopy. The flight stand is a manhandled coathanger.








I also decided to finish up my Ki-61 Hien I started a long time ago, in a colour scheme from Ace Combat Zero. I was inspired by a forum I've been around, where some have signatures of aircraft profiles, their favourite aircraft, in ace colour schemes from the series.

Very cool Tomcats! I used to build some planes too before starting with ships. To go with the F-14 topic...here's a little 1/144 diorama I once built.

I'm not expert but most obvious I think are the canards (good idea btw), I can't tell if there are any more modifications...

Canards - yes
Russian Missiles and bombs - yes, R-27ER's and KAB-1500L's pictured, going to add R-73's as well.
Engines - yes, Saturn-Alyuka AL-31's off a scrap Su-34 I have - they fit like it was meant to be too.
Additional? Yes there is, but it's a sneaky and subtle one.

Besides the awesome looking Canards & Soviet weaponry, I spy some additional wing fillets (fences?)

Thanks The RA-5C to A-5A has been in the works for awhile now and, is part of a large project I'm working on in my uncle's memory. He was one of the Officers who had brought the Vigis into the fleet & was the LSO who carqualled VAH-7 &1 whhich became the first active Sqns to use the Vigis in 1961.

Nope, no wing fences. There's the glove strakes, but those were already there. Like I said, it's a real subtle last piece.

The canards on the Super Alicat are actually mounted on partially-extended original glove vanes, which were puttied to flesh out and fit the canards, stolen off my Su-34.

GTB, Jolly Rogers markings are real nice, but trust me, when you've been around enough aircraft modeling areas... and you've seen just about EVERYTHING in Rogers markings... Ugh.
