Alright, it's a little ahead of schedule, but I figured I'd put it up before I forget. The last piece, the one you've all missed, obviously so very subtle, is on the upper nose, right at the edge of the antiglare patch - it's an IRST ball off a MiG-29 model. All the other alterations - canards, engines, armament - have been pointed out. I painted the IP's with the trappings of a glass pit, but it's not really visible, so not worth mention pretty much. Tada.

That wasn t easy to spot.

It's true, it isn't exactly easy to notice, but it's there if you look. It hides, this is true.

I am trying to layout aircraft for the hanger deck of my CVN 71. I am looking for opinions on how realistic would a layout like this be.

I still need to work on detail like decals and things like that. Thanks in advance - John

Interesting John... I have the same question about USS Hornet CV-8 during the Doolittle Raid.

I guess it would look more realistic if some of the aircraft were located closer to the hangar wall. If you place them this way it will look like all your aircraft are moving inside the hangar. By the way the hangar looks great .

Nope. They never would've made it down the elevator... unless in pieces!! I'm thinkin' of the Hornet's air wing since the B-25s took up valuable deck space on the roof, the ship's air wing had to be stowed below. From what I can gather, her full air wing was abd & I know that's alot of planes vs hangar deck space. Some were probably stowed in the overheads?

This is French Navy's Horizon class frigate Forbin in her late 2007 configuration. It's a resin test shot from Veteran Models of Taiwan. PE parts and decals and insturction were not included. Although it looks like a simple and straightforward build it still took me 3 weeks to reach here. Most of the time spent on the project is researching--trying to figure out which pieces goes where and what details the kit is missing.

It looks great. Now with this kit it is possible to make a small Marine Nationale diorama including a Horizon class FFG, a Lafayette class FFG and Charles De Gaulle CVN. Do you have any idea when it will become available ???

Thanks for your nice words. Veteran's Horizon project is currently on hold. Their prototype depicts Forbin in 2007. Since then there're actually quite a few changes made to the real ship. They want to do the ship as commissioned. I guess we might have to wait a little bit longer to see this kit on the market.

Alright boys, I've been busy today. I put in a little tinker-work on the Mightier Mo earlier this week, putting in some up-close guns, and mounting a radome in place of the aft 5" director. I also put in the forward gun tubs, which will be splinter guards for the RAM mounts. The RAMs on the Fantail were mounted a while ago, just never hit a picture, so I took that today. Here we go, Mightier Mo.










There's the Mo down and done. Let's move on to what I've been doing Today - the USS Black, with serious modifications. Hedgehogs on the forward mounts in place of the twin 40mm guns. The two quad 40's replaced with twin 3"/50's. The Upper structure has a single 3"/50, and I put a twin 3" on the Fantail. One more 3" gun than the 4-gun config, plus a 5" gun to boot. It's almost done, just a little final stuff to add, and some painting - I puttied over the K-Gun holes.
