I would start looking for Musashi reference books before they all start to dry up. After the new-tool Yamato came out, all the sudden the books started to sell out in stores.Atma wrote:Sadly no. Late 2014.Felix C wrote:Is a new tool 1/350 Musashi from Tamiya expected soon?

Re: Calling all IJN Yamato & Musashi fans
Greetings,
Ive never tackled the Yamato, I was thinking of picking up either the Fujimi 1/500 (Leyte Gulf) or the new Hase 1/450 and was wondering if both were about equal in terms of quality and fanciness (ie. Clear searchlights. Etc...). If I went with Fujimi Id use their p.e. set, if Hase I believe Eduard has put out a couple of sets... any advise is very much appreciated.

Andino: Pontos has also released a PE set for the new Hasegawa 1/450 Yamato, so that's another option for you: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10253373

Hello Timmy C.
Thanks very much for that info; it certainly looks like a great upgrade.

The link to the website that has the under $60 shipped 1/450 Hasagawa Yamato was wrong. Here is the correct address.
http://www.plazajapan.com/copy-of-haseg ... kit-40114/
Not sure why the link says Missouri but it's or the new Yamato. Might want to specify this though. I didn't look at the link...I just ordered it. Use the other link if you want to pay $75 and get the model in under a week. Not sure why Hobbylink Japan can't ship it cheaper.

Not sure if this is degaussing cable, but my best guess.

Yes those are. Interesting that they are not enclosed in a shielded box, as were many other ships.

I wondered the same thing Dan, I also thought that maybe the covering metal was just a cheap tin that rusted away much quicker!

Also in that pic the "buckle to the extreme right looks wider than all the other clamps. Then look at the vertical portion, it's definitely boxed. Just more questions from a majestic giant trying to hide her secrets as she rests.

I believe that is the outlet point/distribution box for the cable from the inside of the ship to the out. A very interesting find. This is definitely Yamato?

Hmmm i have seen two types of degaussing coils , The first type is like we see most often on Japanese ships with little burs sticking out attaching (like in the picture and most found in PE sets) it to the ship and the second type is just a smooth all around continuous coil.

According to the website that I found these pictures on. All the other pictures were definitely Yamato. It was a pic set from the last dive to her. It's a Russian site so I couldn't read anything, but all the other pics were of the Yamato. But how about that extra wide buckle to the right?

I would love to, but I found this about six months ago and didn't book mark. I will try to find again.

Wonder if they'll ever put out a BB Shinano kit.
