No need to worry Ryan!

A little update. I got the Navigation Bridge and Emergency Cabin platforms pretty much done. I scratchbuilt the deck houses to more accurately portray the real things.









An Edit. I wanted to post pics of a comparison to the kit parts, in case anyone was wondering why I was going through all the trouble of scratchbuilding the deck houses!




And yes that means I have another kit. I plan on converting it to Pennsylvania!

I ordered the 5"/51 guns from WEM and thought I'd see how they looked with my Master barrels. There were several guns in the package that the barrels had broken off of already so it wasn't hard to get started. I think it looks much better with the brass barrel. So one down nine to go.

will you make the 5inch middle artillery open, meaning without canvas cover at your Arizona?

That is the plan. I need to go to the hobby store this week to get plastic for my replacement decks and get started on that area.

Thanks for the comments guys. I got a little more work done. I got the new barrels on two more of the turrets. I painted turret three and the forward fighting top. I started work on the boat deck by stripping off the splinter shielding and everything else. I still need to sand it down again. The foremast isnt seated correctly so it is not at the right height at the moment. Most of the over all pictures are using the hull from the second kit I have. I found out after I bought it that it was already glued together... I have no idea what kind of glue was used but does anyone have ideas on how to separate the two? Thanks and enjoy the pics.

However, until now a stunning job ... and I can rate, because Arizona was first ship I build.

A little update:

Almost all the main turrets are done. I got the Navigation Bridge done and painted. The Turrets are 5-S, the bridge and superstructure will be 5-D. I'm still undecided about which one to paint the hull. I used a color called leather to do the linoleum on the Navigation bridge. I thought it was intriguing that it is unknown if the ships of the fleet still had linoleum so I decided it would add a little more color. I'm waiting for my replacement wood deck to arrive before I do any more work on the boat deck.

Got some more work done on the bridge structures and casemate/boat deck.

So yesterday I got the Artwox deck for my model and applied the deck to the boat deck and ran in to a problem. They designed the deck wrong. The first picture is the deck applied. The second is with the pilot bridge platform in place where Artwox has the cut outs for it, and the third picture is where it is supposed to be. I've already sent them an email, hopefully I hear back from them. Any one got ideas on how to correct this? I was thinking of using left over pieces from the deck and cut out the mistake pieces and try to replace them. Thoughts?

If you are only wanting to work with what you have, your plan may be the only option there is.

Let us know if you get any answer. I have the same deck, and would like to use or or any other replacement deck.

Well I haven't gotten an answer from ArtWox yet, but I went ahead and cut out the incorrect sections and replaced them with extra decking. I also applied the rest of the wood deck to the ship after I painted the hull. The rest of the wood deck went down without any real problems. I left the wood over the steel plates on the aft deck around the vegetable locker because they were actually planked with wood. The fit around the casemates isn't the best, I'm not sure how it would look if I hadn't replaced the casemate bulkheads. I painted the hull in 5-D then repainted it with 5-S, which is why the hull looks the way it does. I figured from the survivor accounts they said they were having a hard time getting the 5-S to cover the 5-D so I liked the look I acheived.

That superstructure looks like a Dagwood sandwich with a toothpick stuck in it. Delicious!

So I've gotten a little work done. I removed the casemate bulkheads from the bottom of the boat deck and am now gluing them to the casemate deck so as to align it with the wood deck. I also started on another ship today:
