The Ship Model Forum

Hi all ~ I'm new to this forum and my first post shouldn't really show the mess of my small modelling-yard. I don't have a current snap of the room as my wife is blocking it with a giant 5000-piece puzzle, waiting to be finished on two tables 'taped' together side by side (the large ones used for repapering a room ~ term? Wallpaper table?).

Similar to Jim's workbench ~ and I saw it with my own eyes... quite an inspiration, I never achieved such a high modelling standard out of an organised chaos ;o)

So far, I think the "Messiest Workbench" award
is between Jim, Kym, Timmy and Jason with Jim
Baumann leading by a yardarm!

Since I started this I thought I would post
a pic of my old setup. This pic dates from
the early 90's. Don't have a bench anymore.
When my new setup is ready I'll post a
pic of it here to kind of cap off the thread.

Here's my little slice of model heaven (at least when I'm at home). Not quite as crowded as some, but then again, I'm just an amatuer.




I'll have to take pictures when I get back to school. Nothing like crowding 2 ships, a computer, and a semester's worth of papers and books onto one desk

Hi Guys,
I have two work stations; one at home for my, "small scale", ship projects; basically the dining room table top. I keep all of my modeling tools and paints, (currently needed), in two separate boxes ready for use and portable.


My otherwork station is at my friend Dave's house; where we get large scale ship modeling and comradery going!




Without Dave's shop and Daves and Steves help, my 1/96 DDG would most assuredly not be as far along as it is.
I love this Hobby!

Combination work bench and photography studio.

OK then here's mine. Im not trying to win on messyness....
Also, unlike some of you lucky guys, I dont have a PC next to it.

The wooden thing in the first photo which holds my paints is one
I made myself.
The second photo shows my "auxiliary" storage, within easy reach of
my left arm. Has my stash, subassemblies drying, PE ready for use,
and projects that are "on hold".

First of all, I'd like to say hello as I'm new here. Thanks to Jim Baumann for inviting me along. His has certainly got to be the biggest tip I have seen. looks like a candidate for one of those reality TV cleaning shows!

I've seen some bloody untidy workshops in my time, but mine looks positively sterile in comparison!

Do you purchase the ship display cases with the wood molding, or do you make them yourself?
