I'm kicking around the idea of participating. Can I participate with my Tamiya 1/350 Missouri, that I have started? So far, mostly general assembly of turrets, and some superstructure. Bottom of the hull painted.

I think I'll join with my 1/350 USS Iowa conversion. This could be the motivation I need to actually build her.

Today I picked up my Scharnhorst and ordered the Artwox wooden decks and PE railings.
Don't think I need brass barrels or more PE...kit seems really good as it is.

Looking forward to start working on it

Here's a test post to see if I've got my system working again. This is the hull camo progress I mentioned in my earlier post.

I've based my pattern on the photos in the Classic Warships Roma book. As you can see, its a little different from the pattern provided by Trumpeter.

Maybe I should participate too. I have these unbuilt 1/350 battleships on the shelf: Bismarck, Hood, Yamato (new tooled) and Missouri.

Hi, I'm a newbie to the site (joined today) but would like to join in on this one, although so far I have only built 4 maritime kits!

The only 1:350 military ship I have though ICM's Grosser Kurfurst which I have bought but has not been delivered yet.

I think I'm going to pass on this build. I have a couple RC projects going on. Just bought a Dumas USS Whitehall today. So I'll probably be working on that next. My 1/350 Missouri and Arizona are probably going to take a back seat.

I will be building a British BB too!!! We are having a british steel group build at a local forum so I will combine the builds.

After being (fairly) surprised with my 1/350 England, I guess I'll commit to this build...

Count me in with a 1/350 Tamiya Bismarck + about every goody on the market I could find...

newbie here
i'd love to join in
i need to locate a ship,parts and paints tho
with no hobby shops, its not easy for me to get anything
plus i always end up paying a fortune for everything

I plan to play along, though the only problem I have is deciding what ship to do. As it stands, unstarted I have the 1/350 Oregon (YS Masterpiece), 1/350 Tiger (Combrig) and the 1/350 Roma. I have everything I need to build the Oregon so I might go that route, unless I can get the full PE set for Roma or the brass barrels for Tiger quickly.

Oke, we do a group build and I want to join. But there are still no definitive rules and timeframes..... so could we finalize it so everyone can start? And; we will document the builds, do we post it in the normal picture post? And mention in the title the group build?

Can't wait, thinking about a WWII Iowa class Revell kit I have stashed here, or a Iowa Vietnam conversion I already started.

All builds are presented in one thread. No separate in progress threads.

I guess I'll get things started.

For Roma, I want to keep my project simple and hopefully enjoyable so I will be doing only minor modifications and will only be using the Trumpeter extra photo etch set, some Master barrels, and some scraps.

In this first picture, you can see the original color I intended to paint the lower hull. Unfortunately it didn't end up matching that lid and came out looking gray with only a hint of green. So I resprayed it in the color you see now. For the bow, I only modified the blade at the bottom by sanding it down to an edge.



For the stern, I used the Trumpeter brass blades with plastic centers. And only reshaped the rudders slightly and tried to enhance the hinge point a little.



And here's the rest of my progress.

I've painted the bow section of the deck white and added the first red stripe. I decided to use a darker red than what I see most people use. And right or wrong, I've decided to put the stripes at 45 degrees. Being able to follow the pattern on the deck will make the stripes a lot easier.



I painted the quarter deck brown and started to try and carefully paint the details. But at this point I realized that even with a wash, I'd never get the deck to look as good as I'd like.



So, I just threw on the paint and then gave it a slight wash. After that, I just sat everything to the side and waited for a Pontos aftermarket deck to arrive.



And that's as far as I've gotten.
