Diorama Port Mulberry au 1/350

Hello to all.

I just completed the second and final LCI diorama. An LCI (L) opening doors to the front. I had a lot of pictures of this type of LCI for details.

In parallel with the LCI, I began a minesweeper Raven class. Originally I thought to USS Osprey AM-56. But looking more closely at the history of this boat. I realized that he had jumped in the Channel on a mine on 05/06/1944. Unlike his younger brother had operated before and after D-Day to ensure secure to Utah Beach beaches channel.

Anyway I'll see, because I have a plan of vessels Raven class. 6 photos but two of which are exploitable to view details. On the photo below, only the hull is recoverable. For parapets on the blue parts, I'll try to use a thin strip of copper 0.2 or 0.3 mm.



Sorry for the pictures. Before, I had a device that allowed me to take pictures without problems and very easily. Since I invested in a DSLR with macro lens 40mm and I have big problem to control the depth of field. But hey I do with waiting to join a photo club.

You can increase the depth of field by overriding the automatic settings and manually setting the aperture to the smallest possible(ideally f16 or f22). As this increases the exposure time I'd recommend using a tripod.

Hello to all.

New advanced on Dio . Completion of assembly of the tugs will be responsible for the implementation of the LST to the nearest floating dock unloading .

The tugs are at Alliance ModelWorks . Very good product with few bubbles and / or incidents molding . The embodiment provides the hull of the tug is in either full hull waterline. The only problem was the recovery of the hull. I straightened with hot water .





















Now go attack the last ship dio. The Liberty ship home trumpeter and retail kit produced by Arsenal.

Hello to all.

I finished mounting elements MULBERRY port. The installation is not as easy as it may suggest.

First upgrade the landing beach at the front of LST in relation to pontoons bootstrap.

For mounting I made the choice to remove the spikes centering elements to more easily obtain a flat surface.


The chosen layout is as follows;

The white part is a missing piece in the KIT. I did a test to make very thin cardboard. But right after I asked for help from Jean Mahieux Who made the drawing to redo PE. (A big thank you to Jean).

The assembly of Ponton FAIRY 516 and page 433.



The implementation of all including the pontoon SUSIE 517. Behind a gateway Train pulled by tugboat to be established. As of June 16, 1944 a single bridge was completed on 3 planned.







And now the elements of the harbor with ships. The set is a bit narrow, but it is not the final dimensions of Dio.











It remains to solve the problem of achieving decals White. All elements of the harbor were registered with it painted white. See the next picture:



More on the pillars, there were indications of depth painted white.

It really is a lot of work to do. But hey when you love, should not count his energies.

For the white lettering, try dry transfers. Woodland Scenics makes multiple sheets, in multiple type faces in both black and white of nothing but letters and numbers. Those should provide you with all of the markings you need.

This thing will look phenomenal!!!! Take a large amount of photos before you start painting any of it and include them when you display this at a show. Jaws will drop and awards will flow your way

Hi everyone.

Below, advanced assembly of Liberty ships. I've almost finished assembling the castle. Lack two barriers and the establishment of doors that will open. Mounting not so easy as that. Because of the castle there are many elements to implement. And with large fingers it is quick to make mistakes.

The current castle is made up of three sub-assemblies that are assembled after painting.

Your ships look AMAZING! Truly an inspiration. Maybe I saw wrong, but make sure all the doors on the ships have the hinges towards the bow. Excellent work, you truly are a master.

Below are pictures of the end fitting the Liberty Ships.

Mounting mats handling was a nice headlock. All blocks are secured with a son of extra fishing purpose. I have not glued the past so they can take the right direction once the cables in place.

There are still some details to be refined as the top inside calles, steam pipes and dispensers.
















































The easiest is now done. I'll start painting and there is a different story.

Thank you very much for your encouragement and comments on the previous post ..

Now that I've ridden all the elements of the Diorama. I made a set up to determine the size of the base of the Diorama.

At first I went on a 70 cm by 35.








With this basis, I find the ship a little cramped. I redid the year with a base of 85 cm on 37. And then I think it is much better.





Pictured below, a train bridge with the bridgehead towed to its final destination. On June 16, one bridge was in place on the 3 provided in the end.





Tugs assist the LST to put in place to unload its cargo.





On the other side of a pontoon LCI (L) and LCS (L).



The liberty with two barges that Rhino will be filled with crates and vehicles.





The docks. Initially I had not planned to put vehicles on the pontoons, but I think here is empty. I'll put boxes, cable drums and a reduced number of vehicles to fill the space.



Rhino with a barge filled with LCM vehicles and cash going to the beach to unload.



I went on to pass the paint.
