A 3D-printed Aft Funnel Extended Searchlight Platform is ready now and available in both 1/350 and 1/700 in gray resin directly from me or in white acrylic from Shapeways. I included the underside trunking on the 1/350 version. Both versions have the underside supporting structure. The 1/700 version's supporting structure is a bit thicker due to 3D printing limitations but still looks very, very good.

Cool stuff. Are any of these parts applicable to a 1943 Duke of York? If I ever built one, I would want to do her as of the Battle of North Cape.

You bet. For 1943, you need the HACS Mk.V Directors to go with a Prince of Wales kit (Walrus and midships catapult configuration). Other than that, the AA fit and radars needs some slight alteration but that should be very easy since really good overhead photos exist for that period showing the ship in great detail (see below). The photos are from British Battleships of World War Two by Alan Raven and John Roberts, a must-read, must-have reference.

Here is what will be my 1/700 HMS Duke of York during service with the BPF, At he moment she is dry fitted with the Enlarged Signal deck and the HACS Mk.V directors.... Awaiting the enlarged Aft funnel platform..... model used is the Tamiya 1/700 King George V.... The 3D printed parts are superb and minor surgery is required for the signal deck. Looking forward to further parts being released.

The wrong one, but not a bad one. A better choice is N Scale Car Siding, 3-1/4" Spacing. This gives an even narrower plank width of ~8 scale inches in 1/350 scale.

I used N Scale Car Siding for the flight deck of a 1/350 USS Saratoga and it looks very, very good.

Thank you. I was asking in reference to other 1/350 warships, an Iowa class BB for instance, but I know typical deck planks were maybe 5 to 6 inches in width which equates to scale widths of less than half a millimeter...

Well it comes in different widths, i.e., distance between grooves so there's not just one size. I didn't really understand your comment with no mention of scale (no context).

Harq, the 0.64mm spacing you have in the photo is exactly what I used on Duke of York.

IMHO, and I wholeheartedly agree with EJ, it is a very good product with good widths for planks and looks very good on DoY up close, far, far better than the kit's deck.

I believe, and I could very well be wrong, that for an Iowa class ship, the planks were/are 8 inches wide. The Iowa class experts would have to chime in here to confirm or deny that. If confirmed, N-Scale Car Siding would be closer to scale.

Be advised that the grooves in Car Siding are more shallow than V-Groove. Heavy paint could easily fill the Car Siding grooves ruining the effect. If you choose to go with Car Siding, choose your paint, and painting technique, carefully.

The Evergreen nr. for that Car Siding material is 2020. Grooves at .020 inch or 0.5mm, so that simulates 6" to 6.5" planks in reality (1/350 of course).

The V-groove material 2025 with grooves at 0.64mm comes closer to planks at 8", as EJ already pointed out.

What is that box in the first picture? Is the cover Chris's PoW build?

The box is Lifecolor's set of RN paints. As I understand it, they got permission from Chris to use his PoW model on the cover, even though Chris didn't actually use the Lifecolor paints on it...

Chris certainly did a magnificent job on his builds:)
So, that set includes all the colours needed for a build of an RN battleship?
