Re: Revell 1/380 USS Burleigh
a little update...doing much at same time...
dry-fitted front double mast to see effect...looks good to me
new platform just in front of bridge ,scraping of cabel machinery and re-placing it on new platform...not sure if I'm gonna rebuild scratch all of those
new modified AA platform on both sides of double mast
making scratch a propeller...a real challenge
giving final touches on hull...this hull gave me many problems... the hull was wobbely ...not visible when taking as ....but when you ad below waterline ...you get confronted with it

Re: Revell 1/380 USS Burleigh
totaly oposit side of ship....this is real vs kit...there are no 3 portholes or a slight board enlargement creating that line...the top front board is way too low ...
so I cut...clean ....and next will be filling gaps and adding new top side
in order to get this clean...I had to glue the small front deck in place
I'm afraid this is getting out of my hands....all these modifications....hardly visible ....some might see me as a crazy ....can't blame them lmao

The side board is also much thinner now. Definitely an improvement!

yes marijn..that was 1 reason...marijn van gils wrote:The side board is also much thinner now. Definitely an improvement!
the hight increase was mainly to be able to make the front openings for "Les Amares"....also added 1 hole ...with same use but lower and more backwards
gave it a primer layer...I use paint also to check visualy ...paint makes mistakes come out clearly
my ships butt is starting to look ok
but bow...I get the feeling I should have made the new sideboard a little longer...I mean make them go farther to the rear

Re: Revell 1/380 USS Burleigh
thinking of leaving 1 cargo opening... open, putting 2 levels and store some stuff in it...and giving it a moovemend with the unloading of a GMC...and some other stuff....but that's gonna give it way more to do...

Re: Revell 1/380 USS Burleigh
added little adding before bottom paint will be done
when looking close at real ship pictures...I realized bridge fly is smaller as kit shows
more done on front gun base

Re: Revell 1/380 USS Burleigh
not easy to ad missing parts according pictures ...and puzzle the whole thing into something look alike...big outlines are there now
did some painting as well...not finished that hull...even far from

I prefer gluing them ...then fine tuning...it fits better that way and no line visible as you lime both parts at same time...my opinionDavidP wrote:after cutting your .040" thick plastic, remove the burrs before gluing that plastic piece to it's location as easier to do then then after glued in place.

Re: Revell 1/380 USS Burleigh
a thing I was afraid of, the dazzle camouflage..and its all based on black and white pictures... so speculating about colors( also with what I have lol) and formsize...anyway...starts to go to it but..will need fine tuning and redoing like the 2 darker grey bars crossing very light grey and the other on the blueish grey...they need to be bigger...also the black needs new outlines...I new this was gonna be hard...paint is my weakest point I'd say
