Where did you get your plans from?

I'm curious, as I've been looking for some of Pyotr Veliky, but no luck.

Ted first - you ask - Where did you get your plans from?
Simple out a book no really My dad before he passed away he was able to draw the lines of the ship but never got to the finner details so I had to improvise and get as much detail of the net and research books. I found a fairly good drawing which I enlarged to 1/144 and also invested in the 1/350 trumpeter kit. The kit is OK but when you try to enlarge to my size you start to see the faults creep in so I have to be careful with the kit. So with all the info or the kit, the drawing and info collected online I will attempt to make a reasonable model of the ship. He was able to draw the Kirov and many other modern ships of the Russian Navy. Also people always on the lookout for some more good closeup images.

2nd Question - Dave, you could go fishing in that monster! WOW.
Well Cadman its not Dave its Mick for starters. I would use a b&w Kuznetsov cutout if there was one hint hint or maybe my pirate-gif could be another. But well the next best thing was the Russian symbol. As for Fishing, Na don't go fishing Mind ya I'm seriously looking for a canoe This would help me out when under tow on open water.

The Kuznetsov has come to a halt for now due to cost over run and other bills that hit me to quick. Have to earn some cash before I can continue with the hull into fiberglass.

Currently working to smooth the hull base with the plaster that I have covered it with. I have to make sure its completely covered. So when I do get the fiberglass I can go ahead full steam. Also its finally starting to gain weight. I have to start to look at making a table long enough to hold the full length of the hull Straight and Level also.

My hope is to have my hull in fiberglass before the end of the year I HOPE. I tried to start construction of the superstructure but I found that I kept looking at the hull. Don't want to get ahead of myself, Hull First!

Hi Mick Any idea what the weight of the moulded hull would be? Also are you intending to mould the deck in GRP or use timber? Look forward to any future pictures.

Weight of the hull in fiberglass - Not sure but I guess empty could be +/- 130kgs without motors and batteries. I hope not to much more because it will become to hard to manage otherwise.
I hope to also have the deck in fiberglass (GRP) sheet form but I may change depending how the construction goes.

What an impressive model to come !!!

Mick, Looking at your hull and the 1/350 model, there seems to be a difference in the angle of the bow in your hull to the 1/350 model, can you tell me which is right.

It could be the angle I took the photo but I did try to make the hull look as close to the 1/350 as I could where the bow and stern of the ship. In the end for me it doesn't really matter simply because I tried my best and thats what counts. Don't forget when you take a photo angles become distorted when not lined up. I was shooting scale 1/72 and the 1/350 is at a different angle compared with the other.

Well thats what its all about, I thought while you were at a stage were it could be altered I would ask the question,so you could check it out, Im not being critical of your build, but pointing out an observation,

Very nice ever to make an accurate model co's it can become a historical reference to the real ship. I agree with ARH in this observation. But the building progress is so superb!!!
But the bow for the 72 seems to need more curvature up and a little more lenght to the bulb......Very nice work and I congratulate!

Dave I haven't touched the model for quite some time. Been busy with other things and yesterday I had to put a kitchen table in the garage and found out I have no more room in the place. Now I have to make room before I can restart the project.
Hopefully soon... I still have the cash flow problem till February so Sill waiting to move along. I see you have done some new postings, good onya.
