Tom - Thanks! I may have to try that - perhaps a complete Mk. 13 and Mk. 38 at 1/200 scale. Can't hurt, right???

A couple days ago I finally got an acceptable set of internal parts for the Mk. 8 RADAR and was able to finish this director tonight. Here is the version based on BB-55's after director & barbette -

I have now completed 1/48 scaled display models for:
Mk. 38 w/Mk. 13 RADAR
Mk. 38 w/Mk. 8 RADAR
MK. 54 w/Mk. 13 RADAR

I'm currently working on the Mk. 37, Mod. 3 w/Mk. 25 RADAR and also the Mk. 34 (CA/CL) directors with Mk. 8 RADAR and Mk. 13 RADAR.

Thanks so much for the nice comment!! Always appreciated!! The Mk. 54 was an interesting project - and the interior of the operator's cupola is totally my concept. Obviously, it was impossible to get a good photo of the several consoles I came up with surrounding the operator's seat in the center. I did email the USS SALEM group and DES MOINES Assn. but have never gotten a response from either one of them. It wouldn't surprise me if the SALEM group doesn't have manuals on the operation of the Mk. 54's in their document files.

Tonight was a busy night in the shop, with getting the Mk. 38 w/Mk. 13 RADAR completed and mounted in its display cube -

So, I've now got both of the 1/48 scale Mk. 38's completed and will take these as exhibits in the fall model show on board USS NORTH CAROLINA in Wilmington, NC. I will have quite an array of WWII era and newer ship equipment to display along with my 1/200 scale USS NEW JERSEY (BB-62). I don't know that the STODDARD model will be completed by then. One can hope, right??
