Hi Guys,
First time I bent .010 styrene; instead of gluing three pieces together to form one the 05 deckhouse partial perimeter, I bent the sytyrene as if were p/e. It worked! Also, the 02-03 armored conning tower is replacing the 1942 wartime Brooklyn's different shaped piece that had a 2 x 20mm gallery and splinter shield set up.
Here are some pics as of today.......

Next pics I'll be further along.......

That is exactly how I did the shielding on my New Orleans!...I actually used my R&B Flip-R5 bending tool to bend the styrene strips and it worked great!

Lookin' sweet Tony :thumbs_up_1:

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all of the kind words; they are well accepted and appreciated!
Got a little more done that I can share.
Here is the aft deckhouse with the scratch-built .50 cal platforms as in the pre-war Brooklyn drawings...I won't attach them till after some painting is done.
Image
The main gun directors with the YMW Brooklyn kit are identified as Mk34, (early), but the images of 1938-39 Honolulu's directors look different. I don't know if it's that the 1938-39 Honolulu optical range finding, "ears", are missing or very much shorter, but they are definitely different. I'm not convinced that these are the same directors at all; just the opposite.
Additionally, the cylindrical platforms for the Mk34 directors were too tall, so I made new ones and the fwd one is in a "tub".

More soon, Tony

Hi Guys,
...quick update....aft superstructure is nearly ready to paint...1938-39 era Brooklyn Class CL.
Image
I've got to say that this particular resin component is very well manufactured. I straightened the top and bottom to square-ness, and then began this fairly simple back-date process.
I think I'll be building this particular deckhouse in it's entirety. It should be a snap to then attach it to the finished hull; with only a minimum of touching up.
You guys have got me truly motivated!
We'll miss Tom....

Hi Guys,
An overview of the last two weeks progress.
Things will start to move a little faster soon enough.
After deckhouse upper platform extension supports were added, (.030" square stock), today....
