Yeah, we have a couple of pretty good ones and there is always Mail Order, if you have the patience.

While I am at it, is there anyone in the membership who might have a copy of the Hasegawa 1/700 scale Hyuga instructions as it was originally in it's battleship configuration? I have a buddy who is without an internet connection who has the kit, he purchased it second hand complete with everything but the instructions. I have been looking around for him, but so far managed to come up dry. I offered him copies of my sheets from the Battleship AC version but he wants to hold out for the real deal before attempting it.

Half way down the page includes a scan of the Ise BB instructions. They should work for his Hyuga.

Yeah, it's late for me, two days a week my job lets me come to work at 4AM, lucky me. It is a case of exuberance overcoming a tired brain. I will snag copies of the instructions for my bud, he will greatly appreciate them.

I did click the remember me box, but my 'puter's security system overcomes thngs like that on occassion, much to my dismay.

Hooray, huzzah, and all them other superlatives signifying celebration, just got back from my LHS and they scored my Toms' Modelworks PE sets, #730 annd #731 for IJN Battleships. Now I can continue on with my Ise. I had run short of Aircraft trolleys after up grading my air complement to double the 6 supplied with the kit. I had been amusing myself painting up and adding bits and pieces but they ran dry at this point.

Oh yeah, The Morskie Monograph on the Ise is number 31 by Slawoimir Brzezinski and Piotr Wisneiwski. The book has tons of illustrations, drawings to scale in 1/700 and 1/400 as well as a full color drawing in 1/400 from top and side. It shows the ship as its' original configuration as a battleship and as a hybrid battleship/aircraft carrier. If you are doing this ship it is a very good reference work.

I always thought the Fuso, and maybe the Ise, were very useless ships. I think in retrospect, I would have scrapped one of them and used its metal, which was in very short supply for Japan even before the war. I think that would have been a better use of it.

I have a two DVD set titled Naval Vessels Collection of the Imperial Japan

The set was put together with peacetime and wartime footage of IJN ships recently discovered in archives and warehouses. Hyuga had evidently, prior to her conversion - and if I understood the narrator correctly, suffered a turret acident. The footage includes a battleship gunnery exercise that was taken from forward facing aft - all guns are trained to port. Suddenly, hot gases and flames vent from the guns of one of the turrets in a gradual manner obviously not normal - breech blocks were evidently still open when somehow propellant ignited.

If I figure out a way to run these discs on my computer, perhaps I can post images.....any suggestions?

Must check out the Combined Fleet.com website to confirm which battleship suffered the casualty.

How did I miss Mr. Kluger's Hyuga? Very nice model. One of the Japanese companies (maybe Hasegawa?) makes a photo-etch set for the Hyuga which includes the plate to cover the barbette of the turret which was damaged.

I ordered them from an advertisement that aired during an NHK TV program. There are two companies listed as involved with production. One listed is "Creation 5", the other I think is the archives that stored the old film and/or was involved in restoration ( I can only read of few of the kanji in the name).

I will post other images in appropriate forums (I.E. IJN cruiser or carrier fans).

Hi All,

I have gotten to an ending point with my Hasegawa Ise in 1/700 scale and thought I would add a few pictures of it here. I say ending point as it is itended to go in a larger doirama of a IJN Harbor that I have yet to start. At this point I am just building up the vessels to populate the scene. When it comes time to add it I will be populating it with some figures and adding a few more details to tie it in with the rest of the action in the dio.

It is my first large ship in 1/700 scale, I have done more smaller ones to sort of get my feet wet. It only took me about 3 months to finish, of course, there were other smaller ones as I waited for bits and pieces to arrive.

looking for cross sections for the lower hull part for the hyuga or ise so i can built a full hull hyuga in 1/700.It would be the ww2 era so it must be the one with the side buldges.I have build a lower hull from balsa wood but i would like to check how close or far is it from the real thing.
