Didn't MiG do a 1/35 BK1125 Bronkater in resin a few years back?

Yes they do make a 1125 which has one turret and one prop .

While this is generally true - those boat were made for war and not for beauty shows

I believe something wrong with the bow of the museum piece you have as a reference (afaik standing in Moscow museum).
Look at these ones - welds still visible but bow is in shape
There is a thread about 1124-armour boat (translation of bronekater) build on Russian shipmodeling forum - hope you will find it useful
http://forums.airbase.ru/2009/06/t67585 ... -1125.html
As to DSHK machine gun while I also know about Zvezda one I would prefer one from Friulmodels
http://www.friulmodel.hu/en/a-01-dshk-dushka-i3/ as they make it from metal (although more expensive). You will have to look at drawings to modify it to naval WWII version (Zvezda's one seems more correct). But since they stay in turrets you can also skip modification - no one would see anything except gun barrel

Hi Yevgeniy
Thank you very much for your input .

The photo's will be of great help .When I do the welds I will tone them down a bit .As you know these boats were made at various factories which explans why they were so different from one another .
Again thank you for your help.

Richard, hi!
Just in case - checked the link I gave you yesterday (to airbase.ru) - it is about armoured boat 1125 and not 1124 which you are building - I always find it difficult to differentiate between them

- however you may find some useful information there too as those projects have some similar features.
Cheers,
Yevgeniy

Hi Yevgeniy
The link you sent me has been a great help to me .Although it is mostly on the 1125, there are alot of photos of the Yeysky Patriot which is the boat I want to build .I only had one photo of her and it was from a distance .The photo's on the sight have showed me that she has a extra armor plate rivited on top of the armor plates .At first I thought it might have been a repair but another photo shows it was on both sides .She coulld have been built that way or the extra armor could have been added in the field .
Also you have saved me from using the wrong turret .

I thought she carried the 1942 turrets with two round hatches but the photo's show the 1941 type with one large hatch .I want to have the hatches open to show what the turrets looked like inside so the large big hatch will show more .

Looks like I will have to go with the AFV Club kit with the interior details .
You have saved the day .

Hi, Richard
Glad it was useful - I would be cautious as to historic authenticity of ships-monuments as they were repaired after the war so some things could be different on the ships at war - you know the restoration guys do not try to save the original look of the ships (do not have a part/gun which need to be replaced and take
another instead, etc)

I do not know if it is the case with Yeysky Patriot but it is the case with other ship monument (just for reference)

which is monitor Zheleznyakov standing in Kyiv the model of which is in my plans - it was restored with modifications compared to its state during the war and we have photos showing it had even other machine guns not shown now. New superstructure on this monument also does not correspond (by geometry) to war time
However if a modeler does not have a photo from specific time-period he is building the ship for he can take the restored ship on monument as a reference point and build it as it is now - he can always show a photo to prove his version to opponents

I would do the same and stick to Yeysky Patriot in its current state otherwise it could be too complex and long investigation (which can finally lead to starting point or vise versa with equal chances).
Good luck with your model - I am following closely

P.S. May be this model of 1125 could be interesting to you as to 'interior details' - they really make a ship 'living'.

Hi Yevgeniy
I am building a plug so I can duplacate the hull in case other people want one .Now I have to figure out if I want to make a generic 1124 or Yeysky Patriot as she is now .

The extra armor plate is the problem .Do I put it on the plug so the finished hull will have it or leave it off and add it to the hull after .Also Yeysky Patriot had more portholes than the other 1124's I have seen .I will proubly make the plug generic then add the details to the hull that would make it Yeysky Patriot as she is now .
Thanks to you we have the info !

Ok, you asked for it

No more photos or I will get a life sentence at best

Seriously - I wish I had them
Glad you like photos of that 1125 - that is really a great model.

Hi All
Now is time to do the plating .I have the best photo's of #433 so I will use it to do the plating .Looking at various boats I see that the plating was different between boats .I have a theory on why this is so .The Russians would not have wasted anything and might have used whatever material left over from other factories producing other things for the war effort .These scrap pieses would be used to build other things like 1124's.These boats were built by numeres factories and might have used pieces left over from the nearest factory that had scrap .
Then we have to take into consideration repaires that might change the shape of the plating .I have to continue on with the info I have now or not build so here we go .
I drew the outline of each plate on the port side then traced it on tracing paper .Then I cut out two plates using card stock, one for port ,one for starboard .I used rubber cement to attatch the plates on each side .This will make them the same on both sides .
As Bill would say ,Lets take a look .

Richard,
This is really nice. The way the original was put together, and the scale of your model, are perfect for detailing the weld seams. I am following this with interest.

Richard, It sure is looking rough,

but looking at the original you seem to be getting the look just right, thats what modelling is about, well done
