Sorry for not responding sooner, I am thinking that I am going to have to stay with the above listed:
"-All builds must be started on or after the start date and be completed by or on the end date to qualify for contest. All builds however that fall into the categories that have already been started or will not be completed till after due date are welcome however to share. "

However, if all that was done was say snip it from the sprue, I might consider that but if any kind of sanding, filling or glueing has taken place then I would say that is started.


On another note, just picked up the awards and will have photos of them posted hopefully tomorrow along with an update to the prize for this build. I think that they look pretty cool and I think you all will be happy with them.

Another thing you can do Avery is buy another 1/500 Chicago (last I checked they werent too expensive), and make a diorama of the two (with the newer one as the entry).

I trust that you will be doing a proper model inclining test on your New Jersey after you have installed all of the brass and other extras you have rounded up. We certainly would not want your USS New Jersey to roll over and sink because the center of gravity had changed with all of that extra weight on top.

Matt, thanks for putting this triple "Group Build" together. This should be lots of fun. You have put a lot of time, effort and thought into this geting sponsers and and awards for this build. All of this done with your job and most importantly with having to meet the needs of your young family.

i'd like to participate, i think it'll be the kirov (that is cold war era right?)
with WEM pe and maybe waterlined,
as this is my first group build i'll be sure to have plenty of questions!

You are very welcome to join, the HMS Triumph just barely makes the cut as she was commissioned in October of 1991 and the Cold War technically was over at the end of the year.

The Kirov's were very prominent in the Cold War landscape, unless you mean the WWII cruiser class. Are you doing the 1/700 or 1/350 version? A fine entry and please don't be afraid to ask questions! That what this build is for.

Thanks for the kind words, this has been quite a challenge but at the same time it has been a lot of fun. I think if I run the next one, I will have it even more streamlined, but I have to see if I survive this one first

PS> Worse than dropping, how about it doing a 180 in the box your transporting it in. I got home from last years show and my Buchanan somehow turned turtle on the ride home totally trashing the masts and rigging , I think this is about the sequence of my emotions last year when I got home. I still have yet to figure how it was even possible that it happened.

kirov will be the trumpeter 1/350 all i've done is add the deck sections and then i read that it doesn't start till the 15th i got to wait for some etch and paint etc so ill be raring to go on the 15th

also i must agree with gordon, you put a lot of work in matt having a 2 week old and an 18 month old myself.. i realise having family commitments comes first so you've done a sterling job of bringing 3 group builds together

I nearly rolled over laughing after reading this. There is a lot brass, and perhaps a lot more to come. L'Arsenal will definitely be a major factor in add ons. Wait till you see what I have coming for the Pantelyev!

I'm really excited about NIKO's Cromwell and Northampton kits. I have a USS Norfok kit on the way but, it has been pointed out to me that it doesn't have the twin 3" turrets, but the older twin 3" open mounts. Kind of disappointing but, I have also heard (shhhh!) that some twin 3" turrets may be released, soon, by another company. Shhh!

I saw, and enjoyed, your USCGC Tamaroa by BFM. You beat me to it. My kit has been about 70% done for about two years, now. Harry has been anxious to see that kit in the USCG colors like you have done it. Nice!
