1/700 WWII Fletcher class destroyer kits

I'll second Ricks opinion, at least in 1/700.

I've had an old Skywave Fletcher that I built back in the late 80's and never painted, round bridge, I thought I could some justice to. (Rick warned me about it on the DD forum)

Turns out to be a turd.

Everytime I did a "mod" so to speak, I'd have to correct other things, it wasnt worth it in the long run. The Skywave Callahan has the some of the old mold problems but noting that cant be overcome
with sandpaper & a dremel, still too much work for me than I care to accomplish.
The molded depth charge racks are a nice compement as opposed to the "rectangles" given
in the inital kit. .

The Tamaya 1/700 "Cushing" seems to fit the bill if you can kitbash/styrene on a build & use the newer E6 Skywave kit for the armament. This is the SQ bridge version.
While the Tamaya isnt "perfect", it gives some good looking 40mm waist mounts housings and a middeck house that is a little more true. The deck fittings dont jive, but thats whats PE is for.
