It has been a while since I have checked in but the build is still moving along.
I will post photos tomorrow.

If anyone knows where to get chain for the anchors of a 1/16 scale battleship please let me know.
I am talking about those oval links with the cross bar. EDIT found it.

Summer is a treasured and busy time in Alaska, so little progress, mostly doing camera work and flying my plane. I did do some work on the main search radar today, will see how that comes out.

tried some photo stacking, seems to work well for ship projects. My first effort at this.

Curent progress includes an as yet not completed radar. Went back to a technique I used many years ago for model cranes and bridgeworks, cutting out the complex frameworks out of strathmore card. Not installed as yet.

Scratchbuilding nearly everything takes ages!

Your model looks very good. Very clean.

I did finish the radar and mount it, but some time will pass before more gets accomplished. Thinking about the netting surrounding the flight deck.

Floating Drydock. They have 3 sizes and I will be using the smallest size.
It is "printed" ( I call it plastic molding) 3D on a printer!! It looks ok. Not exact but OK. I think if I put a lot of paint on it it will look right. It is oval with a cross bar. On the real ship the chain is oval with two holes more than a cross bar.

Who ever is printing it needs to see the real chain. LOL

I didn't see it on their site. I did find one way of making ladders without apae, one can trim appropriately sized mosquito net into quote nice ladders for nominal 1:200

It is at the bottom of that page.

That's the antenna for the SLQ-32 Electronic Warfare Suite. Note that it's been around for a long time so there have been different antennae for it that look similar but are different in their own ways. Double check to make sure you are looking at the right antenna.

OK I found some photos. I would never have guessed it was an antenna.

I get it now.

sporadic progress, installed the SLQ-32, some signal lamps abaft the Admirals bridge, ladders on the turrets etc. It seems hundreds of more small equipment to sratch and install.

I mounted my hull to my display base.
Still more details coming.
The hull is attached with two 1/4 inch bolts with nuts on the bottom.
The superstructure is held on with two screws. one up front and one in the aft section.
So the superstructure can be worked on by just removing two screws.

Thanks John. It is not perfect. It took one year.
All it needs now is the anchor chain and anchors and two closed chocks.
It is the third one I have built.

I would like to find out where you got your anchor from, or if you made it.

The anchors were from an HR casting, which I replicated in Epoxy so that I could also use them on the Alaska project. Not sure if they are available any more. If I see some appropriate sized ones will let you know!

Bluejacket shipcrafters has a selection of stock less anchors, not expensive.
