Although some IJN kits are available in 1/700 from the Russo-Japanese War which certainly makes me happy, I cannot understand why there are so few 1/350 kits. The Japanese won the war. I would think that it is something to be proud of, although I know the Japanese are a very humble people. I could imagine kits of ships like Izumi or Shikishima being very popular (Shikishima wasn't broken up till after WWII...)

Great News

Post by antityco »

I'm very glad to see the Canada and the Mecidiye still active as projects in 1/700; I'll buy them as soon as they are available. I'm also excited about the Schuka subs, which were numerous but have yet to be done in 1/700. Finally, the R-class battleships are welcome and needed. Thanks to Combrig for putting such a large number of interesting subjects on the market for us.

My thinking too ....
Sure, plans to make the IJN 5 other battleships and the couple of cruisers and destroyes are maybe a problem to get, I can't rate or say about, but as you told, there are some more 1/700 kits available of this war as in 1/350 and here I can't understand why for example these ships are not exisiting in 1/350 too.

But on the other hand ... we have since 30 or more years Nelson class battleship from Tamiya in 1/700 and until now no one made a kit in 1/350 ... and there are many other examples too with ships existing in 1/700 but not in 1/350... :woo_hoo:

However, all the Russian ships, means these 3 Zvezda kits and the bunch of ships here from Kombrig are fine and I'm pleased that they exist as kit. I will buy them ship for ship next years.

I would love to see 1/700 scale armoured cruisedrs HMS Cressy, HMS Aboukir and HMS Hogue. The destruction of these three ships in under an hour by U-9 truely marked the beginning of the submarine as a lethal weapon of war.

Yes - they are historically significant and they are the ancestors of the Drake and Monmouth class, which are already available from Combrig. Norman Friedman's new book about British cruisers contains some perhaps helpful drawings.

The 1/350 kit will be released soon - by the end of spring for sure, maybe even sooner and the 1/700 scale kit will be available by the end of the year.

Is it possible that Combrig will release in 1/700 the project 11351 frigates (Krivak III, Nerei class), the Indian Talwar class (project 11356), Admiral Grigorovich class (project 11356M)? I am asking, because Combrig is continuing to release modern ships with the project 1154 frigate and the project 20380 corvette.
They actually started working on the project 1135 and 1135M. They are doing the 3D graphic for it now, so it should come out sometime next year.

Asked about the status, they are still working on the 3D model for it, so it will take a while.

New kits

Post by antityco »

I ordered my Canada today. I'll make it as LaTorre. I'll get the Chervona Ukraina as soon as it's available, along with the Mecidiye. Combrig is greatly appreciated.

The Combrig web page seems to be under reconstruction.
When can we expect the 1/700 and 1/350 models of Viribus Unitis for sale?
Can you estimate some price ranges? I presume around 70 for 1/700 and some 230 for 1/350 model.
