No Ise and her sister were in painted on ether Kure or sesabo grey. It wasn't untill late 1945 that she and her sister at Kure harbor got painted in shades of Greys, browns , and greens

So, everywhere I look, the wood decks for my 1/700 Ise in the aircraft carrier configuration are discontinued. There are however a few sets for hyuga in the same configuration available. Will this work in place of it?

So the closest they ever came to surface combat was when they narrowly missed US Admiral Dubose cruiser forces attacking the remnants of Admiral Ozawa's retreating decoy force during the Cape Engano portion of the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944?

I've looked through the TROMS at the Combinedfleet.com website for either sister and there doesn't seem to be any other instance from either WW2 or their time during the 1930s China campaigns when they've ever fired their main guns, even in shore bombardment.

They fired the main guns all the time during AA operations, using AA rounds.

That's still not what I was referring to, since I was emphasizing encounters with surface vessels, not air attacks.

Unless someone can prove me wrong, I get the impression that aside from that one instance I mentioned above about these 2 sisters' brief encounter with the surfaced sub USS Bashaw in February 1945, they never fired their guns at another surface vessel.

hi, I have been suspecting Ise/Hyuga had camou pattern both on the hull and on the upperdeck during the above mentioned operation. I think the one on the deck may resemble that of HMS Rodney or it�s counterpart in RN.

That�s probably not a camouflage. My humble guess is light reflection from a newly installed nr.2 12,7cm HA gun mount which has a flat breeh roof-cover.
Whereas, other HA guns (nr.3+ nr.4 =the old nr.1 and nr.2) , nr.5 + nr.6(the old nr.3 +nr. 4 )don�t have this roof cover. The new nr.1,nr.7 and nr.8 guns have the roof cover as well, as we may already know.

Hello Gents!

I've been following this thread with interest. Really great information to be found here. Absolutely first rate.

This week I started on the 1/700th Scale Fujimi Ise Hybrid. I've loved Japanese Pagoda Mast Battleships as long as I've been aware of them, and the Ise has always been a particular favorite, but, aside from a very early attempt when I first got back into modeling as an adult, I have never modeled an IJN Battleship from WWII, though I have about a dozen in my stash. So this will fill a nice niche in my collection. I mean, you gotta admit, the Ise and Hyuga just look classy. Got to be one of the top two or three most interesting looking WWII era battleships, particularly in their final form. That's my opinion, anyway...

So I've decided I want to model the elevator in the down position with a (slight) view into the hangar interior. I'm curious to know if there are any shots of the Ise/Hyuga Hangar Interior and/or detailed shots/plans of the elevator? Anyone have information on the girder structure around the deck edge at the Elevator Well? Thanks in advance for the info! CheerS!
